In the Options window under the Export tab there's an option to change the behaviour. "When output aspect ratio is not 16:9" (a) Fill screen (crop) ( Fit to screen (letterbox / pillarbox) If you import a weird aspect ratio clip and export at the same aspect ratio, with option (a) it should give you the correct results. Option ( is useful for other cases.

See if version 3.12 works better for you.

I don't think there's any 64bit version, they should both be 32bit.

Hi all, VideoPad 3.11 has been released for Windows. The biggest change to this version is variable framerate preview and export so if you upgrade to this version you should see a huge reduction in export times and a more responsive video preview.

Version 3.10 fixes this. For example, if you have a sequence like this: [____CLIP_A_____][__CLIP_B__] Then if you resize clip A to the right to make it longer then clip B will be moved along in the sequence to make space for it.

Move the red timeline cursor line to where you want to cut on the sequence and press J (alternatively use the scissors button under the sequence preview). Doing this splits the clips at that point, so you can delete any unwanted clips afterwards.

To use the & character in HTML and XML (which is what the YouTube API uses to upload videos), you need to write & instead. So, if you want your video's title to be "Foo & Bar" then you should write "Foo & Bar". I'll see if this can be done automatically by future versions of VideoPad. Thanks

Hi, VideoPad v3.10 for the Windows platform has been released. A small list of what's new: Improved the Effects Dialog: Added a toolbar to the top of the window for quick access to some commands. Can now rearrange effects (move them up or down) in the effect chain. [*]Added more effects: Mirror; mirror a clip down the center either vertically or horizontally. Position; move the clip on the X and Y axes. Rotate; rotate the clip about the X, Y and X axes. You can achieve a "flip" effect by rotating 180 degrees about the X or Y axes. Scale; scale a clip in the X and Y dimensions independently of each other. Tint; apply a colour tint to a clip. [*]Added "slide" transition with non-linear motion curves. Check it out. [*]Added quick-access toolbar to the main window for easy access to some commonly-used functions. [*]Added option to either crop or letterbox on export. You can now easily export to 4:3 and other aspect ratios. See the "Export" tab in the Options Dialog. [*]Added sequence snapshot dimensions dialog. What version of VideoPad is this in? Did you save the .vpj file in an older version and then load it into a new one?

VideoPad 3.10 (coming soon) has a Rotate effect, which allows you to rotate on X, Y and Z axes. Rotating about the Y axis 180 degrees will flip horizontally and rotating about the X axis 180 degrees will flip vertically.

Changing the text in the tiny three-line-high text box will no longer cause the text to be truncated in the next release (version 3.10 coming soon). Would it be better for you if that tiny text box were larger? What if it opened another dialog (as large as the "Add New Text Clip" dialog)? I'll look into it for you. Thanks

What are your system specs? (CPU, video card, RAM etc). Have you tried updating to the latest drivers?

I'll try to have this feature added back in to VideoPad as it seems people are missing it. I can't say when / if it will actually be implemented, though.

We're looking in to using OpenGL shaders to make our video effects render more quickly. OpenCL / CUDA is unlikely at this stage as it has poor support on older systems running Windows XP or with older graphics hardware.

Yes, I mean the clip bin area. Actually, you shouldn't even need to use the exact same file names. The "Clip Properties" dialog allows you to change the underlying file of a clip so you could have "myvideo_sd.avi" and "myvideo_hd.avi" in the same directory and swap them over. Do you think it would be useful if VideoPad automatically did this for you? For example when you import a 1080p video into VideoPad it could automatically create an SD version on disk for you, use that while editing so that rendering is quick, and then when you export back to HD it would use the original files again without you needing to do anything?

I suppose that you could convert all your HD videos using Prism Video File Converter to files of a lower resolution, and edit with those. When you are finished and want to export back to HD then you can replace the files (right click on a clip in the clip list area of VideoPad, click "Properties" and click the "Change" button next to the file path). If that's what you mean.

Hi kimvette, I'm so sorry about this. I've fixed the problem and it should be OK in the next release of VideoPad.

This should be resolved in the next Windows version of VideoPad.

There may be some GUI improvements: Quick-access toolbar added to the main window, providing quick and easy access to some common actions The effects dialog will be much more easy and intuitive to use and will allow you to rearrange effects Also there may be some changes to the way that video sequences are edited in Timeline Mode, which should make it much more intuitive, less destructive and just plain better. You could expect the next Windows version to be released in the next month or so.

You should try Pixillion Image Converter Software. It's a batch image file converter from NCH Software, which allows you to resize the images, convert formats, apply effects etc. http://www.nchsoftware.com/imageconverter/index.html

The preview screens in VideoPad currently show your video at a resolution of 512x288 regardless of the actual video file's resolution. This is to make editing faster as rendering a 1080p video is quite expensive in terms of CPU time. Once you export the video, it will be at 1080p again (that is, if you choose to export at 1080p).

Would one of you mind uploading a video which makes VideoPad show this pixelation?
