  1. This is not an expert opinion. It's to do with your sound card. Ideally it would provide StereoMix under Recording Devices; failing that, RecPlayback. Right-click on the speaker icon in the system tray and select Recording Devices, then right-click on a blank space and click Show Disabled/Disconnected Devices. Heaven knows why I've got all this carp in there :-/ Anyway, if StereoMix is there, left-click on that and set it as Default (at the bottom). Failing that, RecPlayback. With RecPlayback, the disadvantage is that if you adjust the volume on the PC it will affect the volume on the recording. Therefore, on my Dell laptop that has IDT soundcard without StereoMix, I use an external speaker that plugs into the headphone socket, then I can adjust the volume without affecting the recording. Under Audio in the Debut Options, tell it to record from speakers. But I get in such a muddle with it I sometimes tick Mike and Speakers ;-) If you get that set up properly, Debut should be able to choose the correct audio source. Without knowing anything about your hardware, that's the best I can do.
  2. It's happened to me. Eventually, I found a box ticked telling the capture area to follow your mouse-pointer - how it got ticked, after I had used various versions of Debut for years and never even knew it was there, I do not know. But once it was unticked the problem disappeared. Now for the bad news - despite trying to find the offending tickbox for the past hour... ... Got it! I was looking at too old a version, this is a newer one - open Selection tool: Hover your mouse over the highlighted box and a popup will say something like "Select area under mouse pointer"... something like that. Probably that's got activated somehow. If that box is not in exactly the same place as in my snap, it's probably because it was tinkered with for a later version.
  3. You don't say which operating system the tablets would be running - Windows, iOS, or Android. However, I can't see that they do Debut for any of them
  4. I can't check it at the moment, but you should find it in Options - probably under Other, look at all the tick-boxes.
  5. I'm not sure that I completely understand you, however... 70GB is quite small for a system drive, by the way. I never save video recording files to system HDD, I save to a separate partition which is reserved for all data files. After installing Debut you can choose where to save your recordings in the Options, under Output (but my version may be set out differently from yours, as it is older - still, you should find something similar). Make a new folder for your videos on the drive that has space. Also, check the format that you are recording in. If you are using "fast capture mode" the files will be enormous. I use mp4 as it is easier to edit the recordings; avi would be slightly better quality and bigger files. If my reply is not relevant to your problem, just ignore me
  6. I am very familiar with buggy Debut versions (can't help wondering if the sole purpose of new versions is to introduce new bugs, as I don't see any other differences, not in the functions I use, anyway) - but I don't have any solutions. One version, newly installed, totally froze the system every time I opened it, yet months later I tried it again and it was OK. I have the exe files for a lot of versions since 2011 but NCH/Debut's licences are the most restrictive I've come across... It's such a nice program, when it works
  7. It sounds as tho you haven't set the speakers to record in the Audio tab in Options. I can't give you a screenshot because my version will be older than yours and the layout is different. Go thru everything in Options, you may find other settings that you'd like to change rather than leave on defaults.
  8. My latest impression is that the so-called Free version is a 14-day, fully-functional, trial. After that, it won't do anything unless you buy the licence.
  9. I don't record (or have anything to do with) games, but I've had a look on Debut's Tech Questions and I wonder if this might be of help, even though it refers to "black video" rather than desktop. "Black" video On some machines, Debut can't get access to the displayed picture, which results in the inability to record a game. If you see that the produced video contains audio only, while video is completely black, try switching the game to a windowed mode. It may allow Debut to access the game's screen surface. I probably can't help with the sound either, but I have ticked "Loudness equalisation" in Playback devices/speaker properties/Enhancements. It may only make the sound you hear louder, not the recorded sound, but it's worth a try.
  10. I've had this before - in fact the whole system froze as soon as the installation completed. I could not do anything to resolve it. It wasn't until months later that I installed it again and it was OK. Windows 7 64-bit, that was. Many Debut versions are buggy when first released, so I would contact Support.
  11. I checked on a quite old version of Debut so my settings options may well be differently laid out... I didn't think! If you do that Debut Support will try to fix your problem first
  12. I don't use VideoPad but I do have it installed. I just opened a screen capture of mine and it doesn't have your problem. If you could show me where you set the compression rate in Debut I will check my settings - I can only find 'compressor H.264'. What format are you recording in? I use .mp4 for ease of editing, and I don't think the quality is noticeably lower than .avi, which is 'heavier' to edit.
  13. Very difficult if you don't know what to search for I don't know anything about anything Mac OS, but if this happened to me I would reinstall the offending program and uninstall it thoroughly with an specialist uninstaller program, of which there are many for Windows and I presume for Macs too. Otherwise, do a Mac version of 'system restore' to a date/time before Videoglide was installed, then reinstall Debut. I hope you get it sorted.
  14. This should not be happening. You don't say what/how you are trying to record - eg, screen capture, webcam, etc. If you proceed as if to uninstall the program in Control Panel, you will get the option to Repair - you could try that. But I wonder if you've made a mistake during the original setup. Probably best to contact NCH Support, there should be a link in the Help menu.

    Manual

There is no manual that I know of. I don't know what you mean by "intro options". You can change all the settings in the Options menu, and this is the support page: http://www.nchsoftware.com/capture/support.html If you have a specific setting you need to change, maybe I can help with the basics.
  16. I presume you mean Debut Video Capture. You deleted Debut, instead of uninstalling it?! What computer do you have? What operating system does it have? Can you not do a System Restore to a date before you "deleted" Debut?
  17. I've never seen subtitles - a screenshot might have helped. However, the support link is given in the blurb at the top of this forum, you'll fill in a form, which is quite user-friendly - http://www.nch.com.au/support/index.html
  18. Looking at your screenshot, I wonder why you have Microphone set as default recording device if you are trying to record sound from Speakers. Obviously I don't know your setup, but I would right-click on a blank space in the Recording tab and tick Show Disabled and Disconnected Devices, then set either Speakers or StereoMix (as appropriate for your system), if they become available. Sorry if I've got the wrong end of the stick!
  19. I can't help you, but it's been happening to me since yesterday - I've been using Debut for years and never had it happen before
  20. The link to NCH Support is at the top of this forum This is it: http://www.nch.com.au/support/index.html
  21. Nevertheless I will reply - because I think you'd be better off recording in mp4 than wmv if smaller file sizes are your aim.
  22. What version of Debut are you trying to install? I know that my Debut v1.61 is not compatible with Windows 8.1 (scowl!)
  23. Coincidentally, as I was reading the email alert to your post, my laptop screen-capturing a webcam with Debut went BSOD - not stdriver64.sys this time (tho' it often is) but srv2.sys, another old faithful, srv2.sys. The worst of it is, when you report a bug you are automatically invited to download the latest version "which will probably fix your problem" (words to that effect) and you have to PAY AGAIN. Debut software is very buggy, and their licence terms don't make allowances for that.
  24. I record with mp4, as I think is it much lighter on resources and there isn't a huge drop in picture quality. However, I screen-capture webcams rather than text.
  25. Sometimes NCH software shows up as malware, have you done a scan with something that might have removed it? Otherwise it sounds as though there's been a System Restore to a point before you installed Debut and VideoPad. I would write to Support if you can't reinstall, they're pretty good at responding.
