  1. Greetings! I recently tried recording myself while making a graphic in Photoshop. The process took roughly an hour (the video itself was 1 hour and 53 seconds), and, when I was finished I opened the video, saw it running and figured all was well. However, when I tried to add the video into Premiere Elements, Premiere Elements told me that the codec wasn't the right codec, etc... It was odd as I had most certainly used video from Debut before in Premiere Elements, though perhaps not a screen capture (though, now that I think about it, I believe I have used a screen capture). I downloaded Windows Live Movie Maker and tried the video in that. At first I thought that WLMM was actually working with it as it showed the video on the timeline. However, there was no playback and it showed a little loading bar on the bottom which suggested it was still processing the video. When I came back to it a bit later, the whole process had errored out. I had tried, before WLMM, to convert the whole thing to AVI in AVS's video converter, but, even though that came up with no errors, the videos it was producing ended at 25 minutes and 39 seconds. Confused, I decided to watch the whole thing in Windows Media player. At roughly 25 minutes and 35 seconds, Windows Media Player encountered an "unknown error" and closed. If I tried clicking past 25 minutes in a new instance of the video, the video would pause and not play again. Figuring the video to be corrupted, I set out to make a new recording. This one ended up at 1 hour, 16 minutes, and 20 seconds. Watching it in Windows Media player, it stopped playing back at 11:02, once again with an "unknown error". My next step is to record videos in various increments of length leading up to an hour and seeing how long it takes before I start getting the early video errors. Any light that can be shed on this would be helpful though. I do not have a limit set in my options on how long videos can be recorded for.

    Rapid Frame Loss

Lately, I've been experiencing rapid framerate loss when recording with my Debut 1.61 software. I'm capturing at 1920x1080 RGB (30 FPS). When capturing in 720p the framerate loss does not occur, or, at least, not as rapidly. However, on this very same computer I was able to record in 1080p for a long time. To my knowledge, nothing significant has changed. The video drivers have been updated twice, I have no viruses, plenty of hard drive space and no reason to suspect might be slowing my computer down. In fact, all of my other programs are running just as they were before. Are there any other settings that might cause this?

    Countdown?

Is it possible to have Debut do a countdown before it begins recording? I know it has a second or so of lag before it begins, but this actually makes it even more difficult to line up when to begin recording. It feels like it would be a bit more effective if there was an option which offered a visible countdown. Did I miss this feature?
  4. Question 1 In (File > Options > Output) there is a section for "Output file name", this is a great feature and it has the %autonumber% variable so that your videos can index properly. However, I was curious if there were any other variables that could be used in the file name. For instance, I'd love to have a %date% variable to organize recordings by date automatically, rather than individually changing them. I figured I might input it as a suggestion, but I wanted to make sure it didn't exist before I tried it. Question 2 Just in my quick playing with it, I found out that I could change to black and white while recording. I figured this was pretty neat, but the only problem was, if I wanted to, say, switch to black and white, then back to normal color, and then to negative, all in one recording, I'd have to pause in the middle of the recording to get that setup, which would cause a brief moment of choppiness in the video. I'm not sure if this feature exists, so I figured I might suggest it on their website, but I wanted to make sure first, but I'd like to have it so that I have a button which I hit before any changes I make are applied to the video. I still want to be able to do it while recording, but it wouldn't apply the settings until I hit apply or whatever, if that makes sense? Question 3 Switching... I found that I couldn't, say, record from my webcam and then switch to my screen all in one recording. Is there any way to do this, or would I have to make multiple recordings and put them together to get that effect?
