Express scribe works for mp3 files on my iMac but it tells me it can't load .WAV files. Is there a way to do this?

I have no problem opening .mp3 files with Express Scribe but it won't open WAV files. I have clicked the button to select all audio types and .wav is selected. But for some reason I still cannot open these files. Does anyone know a way to do it?
