  1. Hi Sorry, can't pick up your image. However where I need to get a precise sound point on the track I usually zoom in to the track. This spreads out the peaks so they become more distinguishable but their amplitude doesn't alter. Clicking the track also places the waveform in the preview pane which may be of some help. The peaks don't spread out in this case (get more squashed in fact) but they are higher. Nat
  2. Hi How to do it with images... Obtain images of background, foreground, and elephant. Place the background clip/image on Track 1 Place the elephant image on Video Track 2 Use the Mask effect (Add Effect Mask) to create a mask around the Elephant image. Untick the Mask Inside box and add a transparency effect to make the background to the elephant transparent. feather the mask to ensure a smooth edge. As you have this image on Video Track 2, and placed above the background image, the sequence preview will show the elephant set against the background image.... Place the foreground image on Video Track 3 and in a similar way as with the elephant add a mask with transparency to remove the upper part of the image. Monitor the mask outline using dual displays (Options) Use the feathering control to blur the mask outline. Being on a higher Track it will appear in front of the elephant which will appear in front of the background... Although this example is basic using images it can be done with video clips but involves much more work. The background can be video but animating masks to video for the "middle" clip can be very involved. A lot depends on how the "object" is moving but in any event will require the use of keyframes. Hopefully this will give you some ideas to try out. Nat
  3. Hi Most of the effects that you add to clips can be "faded out" ...reduced to zero/altered during the duration of the clip if you set up keyframes. In principle you add the effect to the clip, adjust the effect, and then create a key frame. Move the effect (graph) cursor along the graph and create a second keyframe. This fixes the effect in the clip for that interval. You can then move the cursor further along the clip effect graph, readjust the value and create another keyframe. Here is an example of a clip starting amber and then coming back to normal about half way through. Untitled.mp4 Using keyframes you can control the intensity of an effect, its duration and the times where it starts and finishes. Nat
  4. Hi Bit Odd. Try these steps again in case you may be missing something...(Version 10.56 32bit) Load your project and complete the editing. Place an empty DVD disc in your drive. (Probably better to use a DVD-RW disc so you waste any if it goes wrong) Click the Export Video tab. VP will scan for attached disc drives Click DVD Movie Disc Enter a Disc Name Select the Burner (write disc drive) Check correct video format and AR Click Create Follow the menu options Click Burn VP should now burn your playable video and verify it Remove the disc. Re-insert and play disc with a suitable player e.g. VLC. If you set up a menu it should play first and allow you to click the set up button to play the movie. If you didn't set up a menu the movie will automatically start in the player. If nothing happens insert the disc, right click the drive and select Explore. You should see two folders; VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS. Open these...Audio_TS will be empty. VIDEO_TS will contain a variety of files like these........ Depending on the length of your video and the presence or not of a menu there will probably more files than in this example. Are you getting this result? Nat
  5. HI If you didn't Save Project or Save Project File As from time to time whilst you were editing you will not be able to get your work back. If your PC didn't crash or VP was not interrupted whilst you were editing (e.g power off unexpectedly) the autosave.vpj file will not be found in the Roaming folder. It seems you may need to start again The answer to avoid this is to Save your project regularly. Sorry. Nat
  6. Hi "... i save my video file within video pad to work on later, when i go back and open the saved video file - ..." It sounds as if you are reloading a saved export (MP4?)and then reloading this as a new clip later. You may however already know the info below.... If you are in the process of editing a video and you come to point where you want to stop and continue at a later time don't export it....Right click the Save Project tab. Give your work a name e.g. "MyVideo" and specify a folder. Your work will be saved as a .vpj file. e.g "MyVideo.vpj" Note that this option overwrites any previous vpj files with that name; consequently you will only have that particular save to go back to. Nevertheless when you feel OK to carry on working on it. Just double click the saved .vpj file and VP will open it exactly as it was when you saved it. The process does NOT save the video...just an info file with details of your work which VP uses to recreate your work. If you want to save it repeatedly at different points as you edit and not lose any of the saves by overwriting (the best option when saving a longish project) then click the down arrow at the right hand side of the Save Project tab and select Save Project File As. Give it some descriptive name or incremental number to distinguish it from the previous save. This creates another .vpj file with the new name. This means that you can open your project at any of the saved positions. If you want someone to check out your edit then click Menu/File -- Save Portable Project As. VP will put everything required into a dated named folder . Upload that folder to a host site as Borate describes above. Make it public and it can be downloaded and checked out. Nat
  7. Hi Your clip is as Borate describes - Multiple voices getting more complex and louder but the video is just black apart from the start where a faint grey area is noted. No bell sound. How did you create your spirit video clip? One way around this is if the audio is as you want it create a new sequence of the timeline by clicking the + that follows Sequence 1 x then opening the Sequence bin and then Save Sequence Audio as a New File. Create a new Spirit clip and combine it with the new audio. Nat
  8. Hi Back on the original thread...To export a section of the timeline. Hover the mouse over the STEM of the red cursor line.(Not the block at the top) You should see a double headed R/L arrow appear on the cursor line. When this appears keep the left mouse button down and drag R/L to get the blue highlighted region that you want to export. Right click the blue area. A menu should appear... Select Export Selected Region A message will now remind you that only the blue highlighted region will be exported Click OK to open the Export parameter window. This procedure will work on all tracks within the highlighted region. This means you can export multiple videos from the same timeline. Just clicking the Track will remove the highlighted region Nat
  9. Hi Keep it simple. A project like this can be done on two tracks. Clips and images on Track 1 and texts (if they need to be superimposed and separate on Track 2. If texts need to be separate and stand-alone create them using full background in the text editor and treat them like the images in Track 1. Edit the clips on the track and close gaps as you go. Image duration can be adjusted on the track by grabbing them at the join and pulling out the ends to extend or shorten them. Clips can be edited by splitting and removing unwanted portions or by using IN/OUT controls in the preview screens. There are numerous ways to do this. If you want to make things more complex the images could be placed on Track 2 so they overlay (cover up) the clips on Track 1 and texts could be placed and positioned on Track 3. It's your choice. but overall my advice is to Keep It Simple. Nat
  10. Hi From your post it seems evident that you have updated to newer versions of the VP software that your system has found difficulty working with. Your original download was presumably workable (but slow) but as you say, it DID work. That being the case why not just revert back to that version? If you can outline specific problems and supply examples they usually can be solved or at the very least looked at and any glitch in the software could be identified, passed on to the developers and corrected in a later version. Nat
  11. HI Graham Your clip played perfectly here both in VLC and VP 10.43. Nothing noted that would cause the audio to speed up. Nat
  12. Hi From your description you have images on the timeline (Track 1) but want to add simple text between them and the blank clip you are using is just a coloured blank. Try this.. Create your text but set the text editor background to Full Background selecting the colour you want.)In the example, green.)This produces a blank text on a coloured background. Obviously the text colour must contrast.(In this case Red) Place this text image on an upper track (Track 2) It can be positioned interdependently of the images on Track 1 so can be placed over a join. If necessary it is an easy matter to alter the durations of the main track images ...e.g lengthening them so they are visible for the correct duration. Nat
  13. Hi Step 5 in my list was to click Open to add the selected files to the bin from the PC folder.....but Drag/Drop should also work. Nat
  14. Hi If things worked OK for a start then these basic actions should still operate correctly. With VP version 10.43 (32 bit) You should be able to....... Open VP Click "Add Files" Navigate to a folder with your required images/clips. (Normally the last one used) Select either a single clip/a group of clips or use Ctrl +A to select all the clips Click Open to load all the selected items to the clip bin. You should also be able to Drag and Drop from the storage folder single or multiple files directly to the VP icon which should then open VP and load those clips to the bins. You should also be able to Copy/Paste single or multiple files from a folder to the clip bin. You should be able to drag and drop from the bin to the timeline, single or multiple clips. If these actions are not working it's either the version you have or an installation problem. I would try a reinstall. Not aware of an option setting that alters the actions mentioned above. Nat
  15. Hi This is a screenshot from a project using 3 cameras..(One borrowed and 2 mine! ) They were set up to record from three positions. Camera 1 was the main view with Camera 2 and 3 filming two other orchestra sections. so each clip was the same recording of the event but from different positions. Main camera with main sound on Track 1 and Camera 2 on Track 2 and Camera 3 on track 3 . Initially they all filled the tracks, The upper ones obscuring the lower ones. Once synched using the sound tracks they were grouped to keep them together. Track 1 was not edited. By selecting particular tracks however (and knowing the music in this case) it's fairly easy to review the clip on that track and remove sections of the companion tracks so leaving it overlaid on the main camera clip. Splitting is done using the option under the sequence preview window as specific tracks can be split and sections deleted without affecting any other tracks. ( if you use the scissors by the cursor line ALL tracks are split and deleting something on Track 3 will delete the same section on ALL tracks as they are grouped.) The final result looks a little like the image above, This project used straight cut-aways from Cam 2 and Cam 3 with no fades or transitions. If you want the cut-aways to dissolve in and out you can use the Fade options at the end of each split out bit. Save As regularly with a specific name and be prepared to use the undo and redo arrows if things don't go as you want them to. Some day I may try (when I am not actually playing) to film with a fixed camera in front and walk around with my other one filming continuously over players shoulders /closeups etc but without ceasing to film. This way I can use just two tracks. Something to think about. Nat
  16. Hi I have recorded my orchestra rehearsing on several occasions using two and sometimes three cameras I set them up beforehand and get someone to start filming on each before the stick goes down.(I play an instrument) All (or both) cameras record the sound but film a different section s of the orchestra. In VP Track 1 is the main track with the audio to be used. Track 2 and Track 3 have the other recordings. All three clips are synchronised by matching the audio tracks using the visual peaks and listening. Tracks 2 and three are then muted. The tracks are then grouped. Track 1 is left untouched. Cut-aways to the second and third cameras on the upper tracks are made by simply removing sections so that the uppermost clip for whichever camera direction is required is the one seen. This generally works OK. Nat
  17. Hi As Borate asked...Are the images .png files? Like text files, .png images have a transparency property (even though there may not be transparent areas) and VP will automatically place them on an upper track. This is so that lower clips can be seen "behind" the text. If you use Place on Sequence at the Cursor these images are still placed on the next higher track unless the cursor is beyond the end of the previous image. Nat
  18. Hi Check Options/Media to see where new clips/images are to be added. Is it set to Place at Cursor on New Track ? If so change it to Place on Sequence at Cursor Nat
  19. Hi In version 10.56 (at least) the VideoPadSoundCache folder is held in the normal VideoPadCache folder.. If you delete the cache files using the VP Menu/Tools/Options/Disc page then the Sound cache is also emptied but is left in the folder. If, on the other hand you delete the contents of the VideoPadCache folder via the usual Windows delete then the sound cache folder is also deleted. This is not a problem though as starting your next project re-generates it. If you actually delete the whole VideoPadCache folder this is also not a problem as the whole folder is re-generated (along with a fresh VideoPadSoundCache folder) when you start a new project. In the Menu/Tools/Options/Disc page you can setup the location of the cache folder. (e.g. Desktop) This way you can easily find it and check its contents with the minimum of navigation. Nat
  20. Hi Can you open VideoPad? If it opens, don't load anything. Click Menu/Select Tools/Select Options Click the Disk tab. Click Clear Unused Cache Files. These actions should completely clear the cache. There will now be nothing in VP memory relating to any videos you may have edited or files/images you may have loaded to work on. If you have not moved/deleted or renamed any clip files/Audio files etc. from your last project and you have Saved or Saved As that project then you will have a .vpj file saved. Locate that .vpj file and open it. VP will now load that project and refill the cache correctly. Wait until it has been fully loaded. Can you now preview your project? Nat
  21. Hi An alternaive if you don't want to leave a gap in the audio track is to split the clip at either end of the section where the audio is not required and then right click it and select Mute Audio. If you don't want to split the video track then use the Split option under the Sequence Preview window and select to split just the desired audio track. Mute the split out section as mentioned above. Nat
  22. Hi B I agree. It's not VP. . I remember years ago a free disc with some magazine that had Philips Speech Recognition Program. After almost an hour of reading lines of text into my PC, correcting and repeating, the program had reportedly learnt my voice and was competent to write what was spoken. ....or what it thought it had heard. The output was hilarious. If you ummed or ahed, coughed, sniffed or rustled a paper it it heard it via the mike and wrote gibberish (which occasionally made sense) and if you sniggered or laughed (one couldn't help it when it was appearing in real time)... it simply made it worse. There were hours of fun to be had....It was a Philips Chinese Whispers generator! Nat
  23. Hi "........Anyone knows how this function works?........" In theory at least you.......... Open VP and place a video clip with sound or audio clip on the timeline and select it. Click the Audio tab on the top toolbar to open the Audio toolbar. The Speech to Text tab is now activated. Click the Speech to Text tab. This will open the video with a default text visible (Usually "Sample text") Set the Font; Colour etc. for the required speech text Click the Apply button. VP will now generate a text file based on the recorded audio. The text file is automatically placed on the overlay track at the Cursor position. That's how it should work. Obviously the audio file should be a speaking VOICE (not music or background sound.) You can, of course create audio voice files directly using the Audio Toolbar's Record Audio feature. The text generator engine of your PC should be capable of recognizing the language being used. e.g. According to the Control Panel on my French Vista machine (OK it's old!) this is the Microsoft 8.0 Voice recognition utility (francais France) So expecting text to come out in recognizable English if the audio is in english is, in this case a bit over-optimistic. The result of an audio clip saying 0ne two three four five six seven eight nine ten was.... Which was rubbish (although the words were all french.) The result of an audio clip saying un deux trois quatre cing six sept huit neuf dix was... Which was reasonable (although other attempts were less successful (to say the least ) RK might be for an unrecognizable word/sound. ..Un might be "heard" as err. I am called Nat came out as...... Which is actually french for I remember the act! .....Ooops...What did I do?? (It should have been je m'appelle Nat ) I would be interested to see some simple English examples like this. All in all this feature needs some refining. Nat
  24. Hi Can't get this to work either. As I have a French version of Vista and presumably a ST engine that works in French it still seems to produce gibberish. For example a clear audio of Maison....Maison.....Maison ... produces a non related text..... At a stretch of the imagination there might be SOME sound similarity but in practice it's useless! Other tests were equally fruitless, often seem to be random text...often hilarious. So IMHO this feature is best left alone. Similar sounding English and French words didn't work either. For example Table...Table...Table (repeated) came out as... La Thailande.. Thailande...Thailande.... and Tremblement de terre Tremble.... Obviously a very shaky table (Tremblement de terre is french for an earthquake. Sorry no good (but funny) Go here https://speechnotes.co/ and say what you want then save the result as a text file. Use this in VP it seems to work OK. Nat
