yes, it is possible to call NCH Express from a button on the speechmic. I'm not sure if the Grundig has that functionality or not, but the Philips speech mic has the "Philips device control centre" freeware software that you can download. It allows you to customise the buttons on the speech mic for use with different programs. The software is registered, as was the previous version as well, so I do not think that is the problem. As far as the "how're we doing" part, i'm not sure about that either. The page that comes up is the landing page for the product. promo, description, download, and purchase links. I presume you are meaning a feedback link for whether or not the customer is satisfied with the product, but i don't see that on the page. Any other possibilities that might account for it doing this?

I've been encountering a problem where the web browser will open spontaneously at different times in the week, sometimes in the middle of the night and will remain open until I see it and close it. It always opens to this NCH dictate software product page: http://www.nch.com.au/express/index.html sometimes it will open multiple instances of that page if I am away from the computer for several days or over a weekend. current version of ED is 5.82 (upgraded couple weeks ago) previous version was 5.53 any ideas about how to deal with this irritating problem would be greatly appreciated! having the same problem. I have tried pointing to a local folder, confirmed it is shared, tried a folder directly off the root c:\. the really bizarre thing is that i use this program on two other computers on my 6 station network and have them sending to a "dictated files" folder on my NAS (network server), and they work just fine. I am totally baffled at this. Im wondering if the NEC tech staff monitor this forum? It would be really nice to have a helping hand to figure out this maddening problem, which is probably a very simple fix, if one knew what to do. PS. there is very little info in the help files, other than to say that the folder should be shared on the computer or on the network. David.

Have downloaded and installed the latest update of ED 5.53 on each of my machines, both xp and win 7 64. A few nice fixes and updates to the user interface. The low-volume problem seems to have been corrected since installing this update. Playback of the .wav file is consistent on the workstation as well as on the network. now if I can just figure out a way to get my new DNS version 11.5 to work with my electronic medical record, I will be all set!

same problem here. Have 3 speechmikes 5272's. Have worked fine for over a year. Just upgraded one machine to a new windows 7 from xp. now, even though the wav file sounds fine during playback on the speechmike, after i transmit it to the typist, the volume there is extremely low. what gives with that??? It would be really nice if one of the IT experts from NCH would comment or offer some suggestions on this problem.

I do this all the time with my Express Dictate program. There is a feature within Dragon Naturally Speaking called "auto transcribe folder agent", which will do this process for you quite nicely. The following setup assumes that you use Dragon Dictate with the auto transcribe feature to begin with. Set it up as follows: install a working copy on a machine which is connected to your other work stations...im assuming you will use a machine that is functioning as your server. Once the Dragon Naturally speaking is set up on your central machine, set the "Dragon auto transcribe folder agent" to automatically run in the background. When you set up auto transcribe on the server, you will be asked to configure two directories, one for your input audio files (wav files) coming from Express Dictate, and the second one, a target directory where the text file will be deposited once it has been transcribed. In my office I keep one copy of Dragon with my voice configuration files on my server, and I have Express Dictate set up on three other work stations. On each work station, configure Express Dictate to deposit the dictated file into the designated folder (input audio files) on your server. Each time a dictation is done on a remote station, the wave file is deposited into the "Input audio files" target directory on the server. Here it gets transcribed,and then transferred into the destination folder. Also, when you set up Express Scribe for your transcriptionist, it is configured to automatically poll the "transcribed files" folder on the server, so that any time a new dictation comes thru, the receptionist/transcriptionist gets a popup flag in her system tray to indicate a new dictation has been done (set up in the Express Scribe program). My transcriptionist then takes the rough draft (text file) and polishes it up with corrections and formatting. Works great. One caveat to this is that you cannot use both auto transcribe and Dragon Dictate simultaneously on the same machine. Which is fine as long as you are dictating on one machine, and have the wav file go to another machine (in my case, my server) for the transcription.

I use Express Dictate software with Microsoft Word. I leave the Express dictate software open on my desktop all day long. However, the problem I run into is when I open a new (existing) Microsoft Word document. the cursor entry point does not behave as one would expect it should. So here is the workflow as it happens: I open the Word document, then I click the express dictate software to bring it to focus, then I click "new dictation" using my Philips speech Mike Pro. At this point, the name of the previously dictated document appears in the naming field and is highlighted, waiting for entry of the new dictation name. As it appears, the cursor is blinking and sitting in the field ready to accept the name of the new dictation. However, when I start typing, instead of typing a new name for the new dictation, the text appears in the Microsoft Word document. Then I have to physically backspace to remove the characters, and manually click the cursor to bring the focus back to the new dictation naming field. So, in essence, when "new dictation" is selected, and the field to enter a new dictation name is highlighted, the cursor should be there, ready to accept text. However, it is not...
