  1. The way I do it is to combine Switch with Windows Explorer and it works great for me, and it's not any amount of extra effort to do it. First, I right click on the folder that I want to convert from and open a "search" window. I search for what I want to convert (i.e. *.wav). Then simply select all files; right click; and select "Convert with Switch Sound File Converter". That will open Switch and call up all those files. It's very important to leave the "search" window open at this time. Then go to the Switch window. Do NOT set it to delete the originals. Set all of the other options as you wish, such as "copy folder structure" of "Output to same folder as source files", and hit convert. After the conversion is finished, go back to the original "search" window. Make sure all the same files are still selected and simply hit "delete".
  2. You didn't mention your operating system. Since different OS versions of Switch support different file types, it's important information. For now, let's assume you use Windows. If you "right click" on any of the files you are working with in Windows Explorer, what does "properties" tell you about the file? If it says that the file is a ".flac" audio file, then that's what it is, regardless of what the file suffix (the last letters after the dot in the file name) says it is. If anyone simply changed file names, (Example: Heros.flac to Heros.mp3), then that could cause many problems for programs trying to open those files. That would be the first thing to check. I double-checked the Switch help pages. Their Windows version does support opening ".flac" files. You should have no problem opening and converting those files. Do you remember the exact error message that Switch gives you when you try to convert? Also, I went to the Winamp home page. Their information doesn't say anything about being able to convert audio files. Winamp can play ".flac" files. It can rip and burn CDs. But as far as I can tell, it can't convert anything other than converting files from a CD to various formats, assuming you have the "Pro" version.
  3. You didn't mention what operating system you use. In Windows XP Pro, you can use "task manager" and right click the "switch.exe" process to access options for it. But be warned that changing the default settings could cause undesirable results and possibly crash the computer. It is an option, but not one that I would highly recommend.
