  1. i just recently converted a movie that was in mp4 format to avi and it took a long time to convert and when put in my player its still seem to be in the same format

Nothing should happen to the original file. A new file should have been created with the new extension, possibly in a different directory.

What was Save to Folder set to?

  2. Now I purchased the latest version of Debut and the same BSODs now happen also while I am using the computer, 2-3 times a day.

If you installed the driver using the old version of Debut then installed the latest version of Debut over the top, it may not have upgraded the driver automatically. Assuming you still have your registration key, I'd recommend uninstalling Debut (which will also uninstall the driver), rebooting the computer, and doing a clean install of the latest version of Debut.

Note that the driver is not installed by the application installer - it's only installed when you first check the Options -> Audio -> Speakers check-box. In other words, it is possible to use Debut without installing the driver, as long as you don't need to record from speakers.

Finally, If you do try a clean install of the latest version and still see crashes, make sure you report them using Help -> Send Bug Report. If the developers only see bug reports from old versions of Debut, they may mistakenly believe that the problem has already been fixed.

  3. PhotoStage v2.24 for Windows has now been released.

It includes fixes for a couple of problems that cause symptoms like those described above. Please give it a try and let us know if you're still having problems.

  4. I need avi's to be created the codec mjpeg IBM. I have downoaded this codec to my PC and need to know how to make Photostage use it when I create avi video file.

Click Save Slideshow and select Computer / Data. Change File Format to .avi, then click Encoder Options. The Video Compressor pull-down list shows all the compatible encoders found on your machine.

  5. It may be easiest to use the zoom slider at the left-bottom of the window - to expand the timeline. Then you can < > frame-by-frame, until you pinpoint the exact spot.

artwin appears to know the exact time of the frame they want. In that case, it would be quicker to click on the current time display under the sequence preview (keyboard short-cut: Shift+G) and type in the desired time. This works in both v2.41 and v3.02.

  6. When I view my stream on my computer using windows it streams fine other than being a little pixalated, but if I view it on my Ipad it is running just over 1 min behind. Any ideas on what causes this and how to fix it?

Is this a live stream or a pre-recorded file? If it's a live stream then BroadCam will be streaming HLS to the iPad. HLS requires more buffering than the Flash stream that your computer will be receiving, which could explain the delay. If this is the case then I don't think there's anything you can do on your end to reduce the delay.

  7. I was just wondering if using the HDMI signals from the camera into the computer for video capture would offer any quality advantage over using the SD card?

You can't get any better quality than the original recording, and that's what you're getting from the SD card.

  8. When you choose to add a 'Live Video Source', you have 3 options; webcam, IP Camera (MJPEG), IP Camera (RTSP).

Strange. I see Webcam or Video Capture Device and Network Camera in v2.25. Are you running an older version?

  9. I am facing an Issue wrt the Files captured as Mp4 by Debut.

I cannot play these back on Iphones/Ipads and also they are not "Web-optimised"

H.264 video can be in many different profiles. Debut uses the High profile. More recent Apple devices can play High profile, but earlier ones can't. Unfortunately, there's currently no way to configure this in Debut. That might not be the only factor preventing playback either - it's just the first one that comes to mind.

Regarding optimising for the web, some things you can do to reduce bandwidth are:

    • In Video Options, check the Shrink or enlarge check-box and choose a lower resolution.
    • In Video Options, use the Limit frame rate slider to choose a lower frame rate.
    • In Encoder Options, move the Quality slider towards Low quality.

  10. I cannot get the broadcom software to connect to an rtsp stream from an ip camera.

I don't think BroadCam supports RTP / RTSP. Does the camera provide an MJPEG stream you could use instead?

  11. Now can't use anymore can i buy again?

I'm not sure what you're asking but there are some Frequently Asked Questions about purchasing at http://www.nch.com.a...are/buyfaq.html that might help.

For example, "What restrictions apply to the license?" if you want to move an existing licence to another machine, or "What is your upgrade policy?" for information about discount upgrade pricing.

  12. I have VideoPad on my Mac. When I open a WebEx wmv file the audio doesn't show up.

Do you mean Cisco WebEx? So you used one of Cisco's tools to convert an .arf or .wrf file to .wmv?

On the Windows 7 machine, does the file play correctly in Windows Media Player? If you right click the .wmv file in the WMP playlist and select Properties, what does it say in the File tab for audio codec and video codec?

  13. this kind of duplicating and renaming of subclips only works if you do it from the clip preview window. It does not work if you duplicate clips from the sequence (either in timeline or storyboard mode).

Thanks for tracking that down. I've reproduced the issue here and logged a bug report.

  14. I cannot find any mention of the method for publishing an HLS live stream; the only Live Output Options I have are "High Quality Flash" and "Low Quality" Flash.

There are no options for HLS because it's always enabled and there's only one hard-coded quality. BroadCam automatically decides whether to serve Flash or HLS based on the user agent header passed by your browser when you make a connection.

Are you using the standard Safari browser on the iOS devices? Are you using a direct ("deep") link to the stream, or navigating to it from the "Your Video Stream Links" page?

  15. With 3.02 the preview goes away and you need to select the file again but the preview bar is fully expanded. You need to keep hitting the + key to get it back to a usable level.

I think you mean the zoom level of the preview timeline is reset to show the entire duration when the clip is deselected then reselected.

I'd use Help -> Send Improvement Suggestion or Feedback and suggest that the clip should stay selected when it's added to the sequence.

  16. When I export as an iso the iso creates successfully and looks fine except it only has 25 minutes of the video. It's not a size issue the iso is only .99 GB and fits easily on a DVD.

There's an upper limit of 1GB on each VOB file on a DVD. It sounds like VideoPad is truncating the video at that length instead of starting a new VOB file.

Are you on Windows? Which version of VideoPad are you running?

  17. Recently downloaded free version of Prism but do not see any option for selecting output format.

You can choose the file format before you start conversion by using the Output Format pull-down list, in the bottom-left corner of the main dialog.

More detailed settings (such as type of video or audio encoder, bit rate, etc.) can be changed using the Encoder Options button.

I hope the purchased version is the same

The main limitation of the free version is less output formats. Otherwise, it mostly looks and works the same.

  18. We want users of iOS devices (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch) to be able to view the video stream.

Starting in the most recent release (v2.25), iOS users are able to view pre-recorded files using HTML5 and live streams using HTTP Live Streaming (HLS).
