  1. Sorry, spoke too soon. An automatic Windows update broke it, and also broke Windows recognising my Infinity USB foot pedal. At least I know what to do now: re-install Windows 2000 and don't install any updates beyond SP4. It worked then! I'll run that as a virtual machine on my Linux desktop. ChrisB
  2. Take a look at my post today on the topic "DSS file problem, Even the new 4.17 version doesn't work..." ... it worked for me! ChrisB
  3. Try this - it worked for me on both Windows 2000 Professional and Windows XP Professional installations of the latest (4.19) Express Scribe. The problem for me was a missing msvcr80.dll file. If you can't 'borrow' it from another Windows installation you can download it from http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcr80 I saved it in my C:\Program Files\NCH Swift Sound\Scribe folder and when I fired up ES again all my dss file problems had disappeared. ChrisB
  4. I can't get Linux ES to remember pedal settings after a power-down. I'm using Ubuntu 7.10. Can somebody tell me where the settings are saved? ChrisB
  5. I spoke too soon! The pedal works fine, but every time I power off my PC it forgets the settings and I have to set up the pedal again. Does anybody know where the settings are saved in the Linux ES? I think it might be a permissions issue. ChrisB
  6. I got Switch to work on my Ubuntu 7.10 installation under Crossover Office, but it would not convert dss files even after downloading the dss32.dll file. The solution was to copy the file msvcr80.dll from a Windows installation and put it into my Switch program folder.
  7. Partial solution: I got Switch working with dss files. It needed the msvcr80.dll file as well as the dss32.dll file. I copied it from a Windows 2000 installation.
  8. Does the Linux version of Express Scribe read dss files? My Ubuntu 7.10 installation doesn't appear to recognize them, and Switch Sound running under Wine won't convert dss files. Any suggestions please? ChrisB
  9. I was worrying for nothing - it worked fine and installed as a VEC Pedal USB.
  10. Did you ever get this working properly? I've just ordered an Infinity USB foot pedal for use with ES on Ubuntu 7.10 and I would like to know any problems in advance! ChrisB
