Every time I open Express Scribe the Welcome file starts playing. I have indicated "done" but it still comes back. How do I permanently delete it?

I have a an G4 Imac and I can't figure out where to plug in the cable to record from a cassette player. There are only two jacks, one for headphones and the other with two triangles. I've tried both but neither are picking up the sound. Do I need to purchase a different type of cable?
