  1. Hello, I am determined to get IVM working for me as it is the only program I've found that will do everything that I want and I really like it. However, I've had real difficulty getting a modem that works (with UK caller id amongst other things) and am on my third now. Consequently I've run the IVM trial to it's expiry on 2 computers while I've been sorting out the modems. I really need to try IVM again on the new modem on one of the same 2 linked pcs but of course I'm unable to re install the trial version. Is there anything you can suggest to allow me to trial the program again, even if it's only for a couple of weeks? Thanks very much. Minskin
  2. Sorry to press, but is there anyone can help me with this? My trial is running out and I need a little help determining whether the issue is with AT commands. Thanks!
  3. Hi and thanks for the reply. That's very likely as I have the same problem with IVM not getting Caller ID info. From what I have read (and been immensley confused by) I might need to send additional AT commands to the modem for fax tone recognition and caller id information to be sent to IVM. If so, I understand that I need to enter an initialization string containing the AT commands but where do I enter it? In the modem properties via the control panel or in IVM and if it's IVM where? I've already tried entering the Caller ID AT command (AT+VCID=1) in the advanced settings of the modems properties via control panel but IVM still didn't display the caller information. I do have caller id with my phone provider and although I have a PBX I have the modem plugged into the main incoming line not a PBX extension. I'm so confused and it's driving me mad all this, I hope you can help. Thanks, Minskin
  4. Hello, am I right in thinking that IVM automatically detects a fax tone and can deal with it one of 2 ways, TAPI fax handoff or a dial sequence? This was my understanding from the help files and I would like IVM to transfer the call to another extension when it detects the tone but it doesn't seem to be working. I have a Panasonic PBX with a Hayes modem on extension 1. I already have a mailbox set up in IVM on extension 1 that transfers a call to extension 2 should the caller press 0 and it works perfectly. Extension 2 is where the fax machine is and the fax machine answers automatically if rung. This tells me my hook flash and number to dial settings are correct, does it not? In "line properties" of my modem I have "Dial this number" selected with !, 205 (ext 2) as the number to dial. However, when the incoming call is a fax, IVM answers the call as if it were a normal voice call, it does not recognise the fax tone although I can hear it beeping. IVM just plays the greeting and records the tones of the fax as if it were a voice message. The log reads as follows: 15:41:33 Answering mode turned On 15:41:39 Hayes External V92 Voice Faxmodem Unknown [Answered] 15:41:40 Answered line [1 "Hayes External V92 Voice Faxmodem"] call number [32] cid [unknown] did[] drn[1 (5547ms)] 15:41:40 Play file: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NCH Swift Sound\IVM\OGMs\Default Answering Message.wav 15:41:56 Command - Leave Message 15:41:56 Leave Message for Mailbox: Default 15:41:56 Play system prompt: RecordTone 15:41:57 Recording File: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NCH Swift Sound\IVM\MailBoxes\Default ICM000021.wav 15:42:26 Call disconnected Am I missing something obvious here? Ta, Minskin
  5. Well I wouldn't know where to start either so I think I'll give it up at this point It would have been great in an ideal world but I'll see how I get on without it. Thanks very much for the advice though pythonpoole. Minskin
  6. I've made a little progress, I found this in the Sage help files: "You need a modem that will work through Microsoft Windows (most will do this without a problem). Normally your modem will be attached to a communications port, e.g. COM1 on your computer. Use the Windows Control Panel, Ports program-icon to set up the correct communication settings for the port that your modem is connected to. (See your Windows User’s Guide for details). Sage Line 50 needs to know which port your modem is using and its communication settings. This is set up from the Control Panel in your Windows operating system. For more information, refer to your operating system documentation." I've discovered that to make outbound calls Sage uses the TAPI settings in XP and the TAPI settings are configured to uses the MS Dialer by default. Would it therefore be possible to change the default dialer from MS Dialer to IVM or Express Talk? Thanks.
  7. That's very useful, thanks pythonpoole. I'll have a look round Sage and see if I can figure out how MS dialer is initialised and post back with my findings. There's absolutely no mention of the dialer function in the Sage documentation, not even that it's a feature; I found it by accident Any suggestions where or what I should be looking for? As for the demo, I get your point re people abusing the trial. It's just that I've been trying another program and a key combination on the About pop-up allowed a 'once only' 2 week extension should you get caught out at the end of the trial. Just thought you might have something similar. I must say though, the extension was only offered to me once I had paid for the software. It's not a problem though, I can try IVM on another pc. Thanks, Minskin
  8. Hello all, I have demo'd IVM on my XP SP2 pc, and like it very much although I have a couple of queries. I use Sage Line 50 and have a huge customer database and supplier database. At present I dial directly from Sage through the MS Phone Dialer included in XP. Is there a way I can disable the MS Phone Dialer and use IVM to dial the numbers for me directly from Sage instead? This would be the ideal solution for me, especially if the caller ID function in IVM also recognised the details from Sage of any existing customer that called in. If the direct dialer function is not possible from Sage is it possible to use (import) the Sage contact database(s) into IVM and have it as the default IVM address book that updates automatically if a new contact is added to Sage? One more thing. I installed the IVM demo but didn't have a compatible modem at the time. Now I've purchased and installed the right modem the demo has run out. Is there any way I can extend it for a couple of weeks more? I may be asking too much here but would appreciate any feedback or alternative solutions anyone has. Thanks, Minskin
