  1. You can try, although unless you are using a true hardware virtualization technology like Xen, you will probably experience sound break-ups in the conversation as the traditional 'software virtualization' technology will struggle to provide stable performance.

Thanks Pythonpoole. I appreciate your input.

  2. Has anyone been able to run IVM on virtualized system? If yes, would you please share some of the details. If this is impossible at this time, please let me know as well. Thank you.

  3. Can IVM be setup to answer with different OGMs for different sets of lines on the same system? Let's say, for example, that I have a single system running 12 telephone lines and that I want to use 3 lines for product A, 3 for product B, 3 for product C, and 3 for product D. I know I can prompt the caller to press 1 for product A, 2 for product B ... but for usability reasons I do not want to do that as our Product submenus are already deep enough. I'd like the call to go directly to a specific Default Answer OGM for each product. Can IVM do that? Thanks in advance for your replies.

  4. I guess I could write some code to process some OGMs loaded with Spanish recorded system prompts; but, there must an easier/less resource intensive solution. Does anyone know? Please let me know. Thank you.

  5. Hi!

FYI, I have read and tried the solutions provided in some of the other threads; they do not work, at least not for me. I created a folder named Spanish Prompts containing the system prompts recorded in Spanish in the directory C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NCH Swift Sound\IVM. Then, I set Read Out Number after OGM. I also set "Set local call variables" to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NCH Swift Sound\IVM\Spanish Prompts as in SystemPromptsFolder=C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NCH Swift Sound\IVM\Spanish Prompts. However, IVM still reads out the digits using the default English recorded system prompts. Does anyone know how to solve this? I'd greatly appreciate some help. Thank you.

  6. Hi All,

for about 3 weeks now I have been trying to get a response from Peter Lupton at NCH suggestions@nch.com.au

Last year I purchased a licence for IVM but never implemented the software properly. The software got deleted and now I am trying to get the version I have paid the licence fee for. (The latest version is an upgrade so I have to apparently pay the upgrade fees).

I note from the forums that the brand owners do not really have much interest in responding to posts. Nor do they seem to respond to eMails. In my line of work, this type of behaviour suggests poor business ethics.

Does anybody have the link to the archives at NCH so I can try and find the version I have the licence for?

Alternatively, can anybody recommend a more robust application that will achive the same objectives as IVM.

    Best Regards

    Danny

I have versions 4.02, 4.03, and 4.05. Tell me where to send it and I will zip it up and send it. The NCH support model is flawed and useless. Personally, I am fed up with it. Features that worked well on older versions no longer work in newer versions. Shouldn't new revisions improve on old ones? I am going open source with Asterisk. If you have time to learn a new system, then go to http://www.asterisk.org.

  7. Hi!

I am trying out IVM v4.08. I have a pluggin that returns a variable indicating the next OGM to play (for example, nextOGM=PlayIntroduction). However, IVM does open OGM PlayIntroduction. It just shows 'Command - Go' and then 'Play system command: GoodBye.' Does anyone know what's going on? Please let me know. Thank you.

nextOGM takes on different values depending on the responses the caller provides. IVM shows the return value of variable nextOGM in the console, but refuses to open whatever that next OGM is.

  9. Hi!

I have a huge number of OGMs that used to work properly with IVM v4.02. Some of those of OGMs use pluggins that return variables which tell IVM what OGM to play next. I upgraded to IVM v4.03 because email delivery was throwing errors. After the upgrade, email delivery works great; however, IVM ignores the variables returned by the pluggins. Does anyone know what to do to solve this issue? Is it no longer valid in IVM v4.03 to refer to a variable as %varname%? Any idea would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  10. Yes this is possible. Many providers offer free text messaging (in North America) to cellphones on their network by sending an email to a set addresss e.g. phonenumber@company.com. If this is the case for you, then you may be able to do this 1) For free and 2) Using the already built mail plug-in (or even easier, using IVM's built-in mailer for when a voice mail arrives). If this isn't the case, it'll be a bit tricker and you'll need someone to build a custom plug-in for you.

Thank you Pythonpoole. I appreciate it.

  11. Hi!

Every once in a while IVM displays these messages:

    SIP Private IP is: 192.168.1.253:5070

    SIP Public IP is: ###.###.###.###

When it does that, any ongoing call gets disconnected. I find this bizzarre since I am not using Voice over IP and there is no SIP based VoIP account in my telephony lines config. Does anyone know how I can prevent IVM from displaying those messages? Thank you.

  12. Hi!

When someone calls in to listen to a predefined set of OGMs, I'd like to send out a message at the end of the call to a number of reviewers to inform them that those OGMs were just listened to so they can call in themselves to review the answers. Is it possible to send out text messages with IVM? If so, what kind of tools do I need? Thank you.

  13. Hi!

Callers call in, punch in a code matching someone, and then speak a message. The system matches that code with a telephone number, retrieves the telephone number and, supposedly should load it into the IVM's outbound call list to inform the owner of that phone number that he/she has a message waiting. To solve this problem, I tried NCH's outbound pluggin to load the telephone into IVM's outbound call list; however, the outbound pluggin returns "Incorrect version&copyright=NCH Swift Sound."

Is there any other easy way to load a telephone number automatically into IVM's outbound call list? Is there a newer version of the NCH's outbound pluggin?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  14. Hi!

I am running IVM Pro on a HP PC that has 2 GB RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo 2 Ghz, Hard drive not fragmented, and PC only running IVM. IVM freezes and the IVM window goes blank for about 1 minute when I click on the OGM button to edit my OGMs. After I finish editing an OGM and click ok, IVM freezes again for about 1 minute. I currently have about 150 OGMs on this system. No telephone lines and no pluggins hang and the PC is not even connected to the Internet, so it cannot be a virus.

I thought about re-installing IVM; however, I think that I would need to purchase a new license key. So, I refrained from doing this.

If anyone has an idea, I would certainly appreciate some help. Thank you.

    Best regards,

  15. I have some problem...

    :(

This issue can be solved by using your telephony board software to modify the Caller Hang up Settings. You need to properly configure silence detection in your telephony board settings. I am not familiar with your specific board, so I hope this idea will help you. It works for me every time.

    Cheers

  16. Hi, I wonder if you may be able to help me.

I have written my own plugin in VB.NET it is a console application. The plugin accepts 3 values from the IVM and searches through an MS Access database file and counts the number of records that match the criteria. The plugin then sends back the number of records as numofprops=7, for example (if there were 7 matching records). I then want the IVM to say someting like. "There are %numofprops% that meet your search criteria. Please press 1 to hear the list"

But I must be missing something really simple here. How does the IVM then extract this returned number?

    Hope you can help.

You need to create an OGM to read out the value stored in variable numofprops. In that OGM, under the Advanced tab, check the "Read Out Number after OGM" option. In the "Variable Name" textbox, put %numofprops%, and then choose "Number" from the combo box.

  17. Hi!

IVM only works sometimes with my plugin. The plugin was toroughly tested and functions well outside IVM. However, every now and then IVM throws this message "Plugin did not return before OGM finished playing - aborting plugin." What's causing this issue? This seems to happen when I change the way I invoke the OGM that runs the plugin. Sometimes, the OGM that's expecting input from the plugin runs before the plugin returns, and when I switch things around, they still don't work properly. Any help solving this issue will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  18. For all of you who looked at my question but didn't or couldn't answer either because the question was confusing or the issue too simple, I want to say thank you anyway. The answer is a simple one, and I guess too simple. All I needed to add to my plugin code is a Console.Write("NextSectionNumber=" + Number) statement, and voila! That took care of it. Issue solved!

I think other newbies like myself can make use of my answer. That's why I posted. Have fun!

  19. Hi!

I have a plugin that returns an integer which I want to store in local variable named "NextSectionNumber" so I can know what's the next OGM to play. How do I assign the returned value to variable NextSectionNumber?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way, I am using C#, if it matters. Thank you so much!
