  1. The first recordings I received were MP3. They are the ones that are playing mud and crap. She sent me WAV files. I loaded them into Express Scribe. While the MP3 files have sound, the WAV files do not. No error messages. I've tried all the usual fixes (go through settings, make sure sound is up, troubleshoot, etc). This problem is exclusive to Express Scribe. Other audio, both imported and sound from news sites and YouTube, play fine, so it isn't my sound card. I did play the WAV through Windows Media Player, and they sound very good. But I need Express Scribe so I can use the pedal and other features. I am grateful for any help!!!
  2. Court reporter. Using Express Scribe. Transcribing for another reporter, straight typing (she couldn't supply me with any takedown transcription); what I hear is all I'm going to get. Problem is she was in a courtroom with VERY bad acoustics and there seems to be something wrong with her voice mask. Can't make out a word when it's her voice, can hear okay but not great when it's other speakers is some other parts of courtroom. I've messed around with Special Audio Processes and also with every configuration in Options - Playback (Volume audio adjust (range compression); clarity low frequency cutoff method. I'm older than your grandma, and sooo not computer savvy. Is there anything I can do to improve sound so I can produce an acceptable transcript?
