where to 'done' dications go?

Hi,

Experimenting with express dictate/scribe at present. Looks like a slick bit of software, once you work out how to turn off the automatic pulling through of dictations from the network folder, allowing multiple typists to pick up new dications as they go...

However, where to the dication files 'go' once the typist has done the transcription and clicks the 'done' button in Express Scribe? - surely it doesnt just delete the file?

I did ask this question of the tech support page, but got a generic canned answer about the installation folder for the product - which I know, and isnt where 'done' dications go. They also dont seem to go back to the network folder they were extracted from, unless their file type is changed or something...

Many thanks,

Damian

It sort of does depend on the installation folder, but you're right, it may not be IN the installation folder. On my Windows XP installation, the 'Done' files are being stored in an Application Data folder for Express Scribe under the Windows User I am using, in this case 'Administrator'. If you use the following as an EXAMPLE, you should be able to find them. On my installation, they are stored in:

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\NCH Swift Sound\Scribe\Done

Note that the Application Data folder may not be visible to you in Windows Explorer. I used the Command Prompt (DOS) to find them.

Also know that the "Settings" options in ES has a setting which instructs how long 'Done' files are to be kept. Use this! They take a up lot of space. And based on some other messages, may cause problems when it gets to be 'too much'.

Can someone tell me where the files are saved for Express Dictate? I posted this in the ED forum but there doesn't appear to be a lot of answering going on in there. I have issues that I am working on fixing with my network users and I need to find where the original dictations are stored at on the users computers. We have the setting set to 120 days, but I can't seem to find anything as to where they are.

Thanks.

Tim

Nevermind, I found them. I had a setting that I missed on a user that was throwing me off.
