zero length output files

I am using Switch 1.04 basic, to convert MP2 files taken off the UK Freeview radio channels to MP3. I downloaded LAME and placed the DLL on my path. Conversion was successful. After a lapse of a week or so, I went to convert some more files. The conversion is instant and a zero length MP3 file is produced. I can listen to the MP2 file with Media Player Classic and it sounds fine. Any suggestions?

what do you mean by "I downloaded LAME and placed the DLL on my path"? LAME comes with Switch, you don't need to download it - is there somewhere you read on our website that said you had to download the LAME .dll ?

Try downloading Switch 1.05 and see if it makes any difference. Uninstall 1.04 first though.

Also, Switch uses DirectX to decode your mp2 files, so if it is working one minute and not the next, check your DirectX installation hasn't become corrupted somehow.

Apologies - I mislaid my logon details so have rejoined the forum.

going to 1.05 hasn't helped - still getting zero length output files.

I have also installed 1.05 on my laptop to see if a 'clean' environment made any difference - zero length output files again.

Not sure what to try next.
