Vista Bug - Auto Start

I have installed RecordPad in Vista - I UNCHECKED the box for auto record at computer start, then clicked OK - but as soon as I exit the recorder, the box reverts back to the CHECKED mode - it`s impossible to keep it unchecked - I even tried running RecordPad in XP compatability mode, but that does not help - I disabled it from startup in MSCONFIG but then I get blocked program warnings at bootup, which is a pain in the butt. Got any ideas? Thanks, Chris.
