KMoth
You're not doing anything wrong it's just that Switch is not compatible with Real Audio files. It cannot convert to or from them. You can find a detailed list of the formats Switch supports and can convert to and from here.
nchtj
Switch can play/decode/open RealAudio files, but it does have issues with streams of particular formats, and long files can also pose an issue. It's just a question of looking at a particular file and seeing if its going to work or not. If you want to experiment opening a sample file, see here: http://www.nch.com.au/acm/sample.PCM.16bit...tereo.56kbps.ra KMoth - ra/ram is in the list of supported formats on the page you linked to :-)
you
I'm having problems with a quite lenghty (23 mins) .ram file, that won't convert to mp3. I have not had problems with much longer .ram files earlier tho, such that are about 1 hour in length. Seems like the problem I have with this particular .ram file is its codec, does switch has any solution to that? Real audio is, as ever, a source of problems! nchtj
we want to investigate if we can improve the ram "robustness" in the software, the real plugin we use won't work with all streaming protocols for example, so we want to be able to report that a bit better to the users (open the ram file in notepad to see what protocol it is using)

NicSiddle
I'm struggling to post this message - I keep getting server time out replies. Like others, I too am having difficulty getting .ram converted to .wav files. Switch 1.05 certainly use to be able to convert .ram files to either .wav or .mp3 because I used it to do so on and off over the last 12 months. The thing that always put me off buying the upgrade was the apparently random "back outs" from the programme. Having now read the posts on this forum, this seems to have been a common fault with v 1.05 when adding new files to be converted (I hadn't spotted the connection with batch conversions) I therefore just upgraded to v 1.10 and find that it cannot convert .ram files to .wav files (my main requirement) even as single files, let alone as batches. Message "could not convert file" is not very helpful. Have just located and re-installed v 1.05 and it worked for one single file, but will not even do that any more:- It now leaves the "loading Real Audio file" message on the screen (with the progress bar fully filled) and the "saving audio file" box not filled at all. (I note that this download appears to be the SwitchPlus version, but do not know if this is significant) I was really hoping to find a single piece of software which would cover all my needs as I do not like the latest version of Nero which came with a recent DVD player purchase. I need to be able to:- 1) Download .ram presentation files from BBC and convert to .wav 2) Edit these .wav files to get rid of leaders and trailers 3) transfer vinyl & cassettes to CD and put in track breaks 4) copy & burn CDs and DVDs with my Liteon DL DVD RW I did try to burn a CD with Switch ExpressBurn but it insisted that the disc wasn't empty - Nero burnt to it without a problem. Any ideas? - as a minimum, I need to get back to where I was before - ie able to download and convert .ram files. any advice appreciated
