FLAC to MP3 & variable bitrate (VBR) failure

Recommended Posts

Just upgraded from version 5.x to 8.11 and converting FLAC to MP3 files. As per usual, was using the "Variable Bitrate Option" (VBR) and selecting 320 kbps.

A partially successful conversion will happen - that is, FLAC to MP3.

Unfortunately, the VBR outputs only as 128 kbps quality and not as 320 kbps as chosen.

Anyone know what the problem is?? Is there a work-around or did I screw up somewhere?? I have been using this app for years without any issues.

Let's try doing a clean install and delete all the cache of the program. Uninstall your software first, then go to the folder location below on your computer then delete the Switch folders:

C:\ProgramData\NCH Software
C:\Users\(Your computer profile)\AppData\Roaming\NCH Software\Switch

If you can't find the AppData folder, set Windows to show hidden files and folders with the steps from this link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14201/windows-show-hidden-files.

After deleting the Switch folder, restart your computer then install it again from the next link: http://www.oldversiondownload.com/oldversions/switch-7-45-2019-11-08.exe

That should do it. Please try it again after that and see if that fixes the issue.

Since I own a Mac, I could not explicitly follow your instructions as they were meant for Windows users.

Notwithstanding, I used a recommended program called AppCleaner which has always worked very well for me deleting apps.

Bottom line is this after uninstalling and re-installing ..... still no luck at all in resolving this issue. What is wrong here? Any more suggestions???
