borate
Makes little sense. If you want to go this route consider uninstalling VLC via Control Panel | PROGRAMS AND FEATURES. Here's what you should see when launching MPC...
Mike Nomic
OK, I've got the MPC data now for the two files I sent you. I'll now try some other tapes. I've created a spreadsheet of other tapes. How do I add it here? I've tried copy and paste, but that doesn't work.
borate
All that's needed is another sample file - one that does NOT have the problem. Please upload and share it just as you did the other two.
Mike Nomic
ALL the source files are muxed. However, some do not have the audio shrinkage issue. If I can get the spreadsheet to you, you can see if you can identify a pattern, and pick the file you want
borate
Though it's not clear why some of your muxed files don't have the 'shrinkage' issue, a demuxing utility can process those that do. Here's a suggested procedure... 1. Use the demuxer utility to create an Mp3 file of the audio 2. Import the project 3. Unlink audio 4. Substitute the Mp3 for the entire audio track That's what worked here. Then the project was exported from an SSD drive as an Mp4 at default settings. Other formats may also succeed. borate
Research by a developer found that the two files do have differences. In the future, VP may handle them. If your DVcam provides the option of 12 bit PCM 32kHz or 16 bit PCM 48khz, try the latter. VP doesn't support the former. For now, when you encounter 'shrinkage', consider employing an external demuxer as outlined above.
Mike Nomic
Have done, and have succeeeded in getting a good audio track on the clips, and have now re-edited them. Please advise each time when future updates eliminate these issues.
borate
Being that this is a somewhat obscure issue, word that muxed handling has changed may not be forthcoming. But you can check this page on occasion.
Russ Croucher
We have some more information to report about the chipmunk audio problem. It seems like if you use the window 7 default FireWire application that records FireWire that may be the problem with the audio header being skewed from the video. My brother Jerry will make a post about this later, but this is a heads up that using versions 8.0 our solution to the problem was to use Pinnacle version 21 to retrieve all mini DV tapes and VideoPad works fine. When we use the default application that retrieves FireWire the video plays fine but once we export from VideoPad we have the audio being skewed wrong. It seems like we get about two thirds of the audio and then 1/3 flatline where the audio that we do receive sounds high-pitched like the Chipmunks. He was able to divide and conquer the problem down to just a 6 minute video that once he reduced the video to about 4 minutes the problem went completely away. So my thoughts was maybe it was in the header that somehow VideoPad might be read it a little weird and cause problems.
borate
Upload and link a file that has the issue and someone will analyse it.
