Cut and Paste - whole groups of notes ?

So this could probably be just not understanding how to ...

I've created a bar of 4/4 triplets . I then use the ctrl/click to select all three notes. I copy and then try "paste after" (right click menu). What I get though is a single quaver .

I would of thought that this kind of thing was possible.. 

So where am I going wrong please ? 

Also can you select whole bars of notes to copy as the next bar (repeated)

Gee... sorry I haven't figured that out yet but saw in other posts that one would need to copy/paste the entire bar...

You can copy and paste at most one bar. So to make things faster, I first erased all the bar lines to make many bars into one, I copied it, I pressed 'return' button to put the bar lines back, and then I pasted them.
