Which is better Realtek default format: 16 bits or 24 bits?

My PC uses Realtek HD Audio Manager as its default sound program. It offers a range of sample rates up to 192,000 Hz with both (or rather a choice between) 16-bit and 24-bit architectures. Do either of these work better (or offer problems) with Switch?

My computer uses the 64-bit version of Windows 10 Home edition.

I'm also interested in the same question as it might relate to WavePad.

Thanks in advance for your insight.
