Audio peaking at 165Kbits/s ?

Greetings.

I bought VideoPad Professional (6.22) some weeks ago and I have an unpleasant issue. I have no problem with the video edition, this software doing magnificent job. But when it comes to audio, that's a complete different story. Each time I import an audio file, its quality is slightly altered when played directly from the timeline or when I play it from the exported file.

No matter which settings I use, audio files peak at 165Kbits/s whereas I use 192Kbits/s ones. And the downgrade is clearly audible (this is truly bad) ! I can't believe we're restricted so I think I made a mistake somewhere. Does someone else ran into the same problem ? Is there a way to fix that ? Can somebody help me ?

Thanks for reading.

Regards.

Prognosis, increasingly negative. I totally understand your point of view and I thank you once again for doing your best but I just can't stop feeling disappointed in this. I bought a professional software to get professional services and in the end, I can't use the program I paid 60€ for until an undefined date because of an absurd issue. Let's wait, then.

That is not an absurd issue. To change codec it not a piece of cake. It is something that influences the core of the software and this feature should me implemented with carefull attention. Let's say, they can fix it within 5 minute and add troubles which require to be fixed within 3 months of extra work. This effect is about any complex software: you can not just add or replace feature. There is always so called side effect, which means: when you change something in one place, in some other place something gets broken.

As for Videpad as professional software, it is more like a professional bicylce, not a professional car or even not a professional truck. I use Videopad for last 3 years as hobbist (I'm not a professional) and 100% delighted. Everybody around me who earn money from videoediting they would laugh on idea to use Videopad as professional tool. For example in Russia 1 year of professional videoediting software costs 400 USD, that is 320 GBP each bloody year!

So, Videopad is a super product for its money and its market niche!!

Well stated.

As you note, fix or add a feature without due testing and there's a chance something will break.  Personal observation has shown that high-end NLE software is not without problems.  NCH targets its programs to home users.  To the developers credit, VP is continuously upgraded.  That's more than can be said for some competing products.

  • 4 weeks later...

I let a month pass (and I tried to not get mad at what I read here, which was not an easy thing) but now it starts to get on my nerves since I have exchanged tons of mails with the NCH Technical Support and after four weeks they're still trying to figure out what is my issue. What a skilled team ! So I have to answer one last time.

As you may have noticed, English is not my native language. But if I understand correctly what you're all saying, you totally agree to let customers buy incomplete and flawed softwares hiding yourself behind a wall of bad reasons like "adding a feature without testing it may break a software" or "this program is cheap so deal with it".

To be honest, I don't care about the development or the cheapness of the product. I bought VideoPad to create high quality audio/video, this is the way NCH advertised the software, and the truth is I can't use the service I paid for. Come now, don't tell me there's no problem when you hear this https://tinyurl.com/videobadmp3

If you really don't hear the difference, maybe you should visit an ear specialist as soon as possible. I just can't believe it. The audio encoder of VideoPad slaughters my audio files but you're saying everything's fine. Keep calm and shut up. As once said the crow, I swore, though somewhat later, that I would never be tricked thus again.
