Video Pad tasks forever to export

This software  takes forever to export a video file compared to OpenShot which is free it takes 3 to 4 times as long and the video quality is horrible I mean it looks like I'm trying to do a 3d video but it's not a 3d video the option to export as a 3d video is not an option I can select.  Is there a reason the video quality is so bad and why does it take forever to export.

What's the format of the source files?  What's the export format and what are the encoding settings.

With the project on the time line, click FILE|SAVE AS PORTABLE PROJECT and upload ALL files that result to DropBox, Google Drive, MS OneDrive or the like.  Make the link public and post it here.  Or first zip the files, then upload the zip file.  Someone will check it out.

An earlier version of VP had an output problem where the result looked  like 3D. with colored fringes. This was quickly reported and corrected.  May not be what you are getting though. A image might help.

What version are you using?

The version I have is 5.2 the source is MP4  and the export is 1080 hd for you tube.  I already exported some videos to youtube using open shot with no problems and the video looks as I expected no problems.  I deleted  the videos I uploaded using Video pad because they looked so bad.  Really don't want to use video pad again because the video quality is so bad.  Just mad because I had to pay money to find that out.

That's a shame.  But there's a problem somewhere because VP's video - in many formats - is just fine.  If you upload a project that you feel wasn't up to snuff, as outlined above, someone will check it out.

You might also test the latest version, which can be done without payment - on a trial basis.

If you are indeed seeing the problem that Nat described, below, try exporting as a video file first, then upload that file to YouTube, instead of using VP's direct uploader.

Without seeing an example clip or an image , It seems you are experiencing a similar problem to that reported at the end of 2017 following an upgrade.(Fuzzy results with false color fringes on exports direct to UTube .)   A fix was made for this in both Mac and Windows versions. Have you checked out the links I posted to the other relevant forum entries ? (There were two threads running at the time; one has an example video.) There have been a lot of changes to VP since v.5.2........

I bought Video Pad as well, and have no complaints, using it 2 plus years now. The last few days, its taking 20 plus hours to export my finished/edited project. Its a 43 minute video, 1920x1080. 

I use Version 5.32. 

I have 2 questions. What can I do or are doing wrong that all of a sudden my export time is so long. And, is there a newer version of VP I can load without having to pay again...I just renewed 3 months ago.

You should be good for free updates for up to six-months after registering.  Retain your old installer and give the latest a try.

Be sure that there's sufficient free space on the hard disk.  What are your PC's specs:  CPU, GPU, RAM, etc.?  It should not take 20 hours to complete that video.

I am using Windows 10. 64 Bit Intel Celeron CPU, N3060 @1.60 GHZ.  4 GB Ram. I am saving to a 500 GB Remote storage device. about 2 weeks ago I was able to save a 53 min video in just a couple hours. The last one took 19 hours approx. I didnt upgrade the software, and fro what I can find, settings are all at default.

The reason I am asking about the upgrade is because the last time I upgraded, I got a message stating I only have 1 use left on my product registration number (not quite sure the exact wording of the email).

Video editing is resource intensive and your system may be holding you back.  But that doesn't explain the discrepancy between "a couple hours" and 19 - unless the latter contained comparatively more effects, transitions etc.

Though it is lengthy, suggest again that you upload the project, per the link above, so others can analyze it.  Be sure to make it public (share) and post a link here.

My boss would most likely say no to uploading my project unfortunately. Any suggestions of what I may be able to do otherwise? I spliced together approx 5 or 6 clips with transitions between, 2 jpeg pics as "cover" pics and 2 jpegs at the end, for both videos. If I did the first one on a different computer I would think operating system, but both videos were done on the same laptop, and both very similarly edited.

Odd.  You can link your project to me privately via the personal messaging feature, if that's feasible.  Click the envelope at the top-right of the window.

Only other thought that comes to mind is to upgrade the PC.  With an I5 or I7 processor and 8Gb or more of RAM there should be a considerable improvement.

In lieu of that, try different export formats and lower resolutions, if they are applicable to your presentation.

I installed the upgrade you recommended, and it worked GREAT! Export time was what you would consider normal. Thanks!

HOWEVER, my concerns with my license was true. 2 days ago, I received a notification to upgrade my free trial version. I just purchased my renewal a few months ago. I have been using NCH 2 years. I contacted support, and here is what Josh at support replied back:

What he is telling me is I can never upgrade!!  I reinstalled my original program, and exporting time is 1 hour for a 2 min video! I fell like I got scammed purchasing video pad AND imagepad. I will unfortunately be looking for a new program to purchase.

Apparently, when you upgraded to the latest with good results, it would not accept your code.

As noted above, my current understanding (and someone will correct me if I am wrong) is that upgrades are free up to six months after purchase.

Depending upon your purchase date (you stated "a few months ago"), while you may not be able to upgrade to the very latest you should be able to employ a more recent version of the program than the one downloaded when originally licensed, and that may take care of the export issue.

Past versions are available here.  Note the release dates, then try a likely candidate or two and import your registration key.
