Wavepad going into the red zone when recording

I'm having difficulty with WavePad going into the "red zone" when I'm recording. I'm having trouble setting it so that it doesn't go into that zone. I get the recording, but I don't know how to adjust the settings so that it's not too loud. Am I speaking too close to the mic . Can someone baby-step me so that it doesn't go into the red zone? Other than that, I like the editor?

Any help would be appreciated greatly.

Sincerely yours,

Maghdalena

Hi Maghdalena, when that happens is because the input volume is too high, so basically what you may want to do is to lower the input volume. To do that you may go to Wavepad > Tools > Options > Recording and click on Open Windows Record Mixer. Once the Sound window comes up you may click to select the microphone or input device you are using and then click on Properties > Levels and use the slider to lower the input volume. Please try it out to find the volume level that better fit your needs and hardware.
