This should not be happening. You don't say what/how you are trying to record - eg, screen capture, webcam, etc.

 

If you proceed as if to uninstall the program in Control Panel, you will get the option to Repair - you could try that. But I wonder if you've made a mistake during the original setup. Probably best to contact NCH Support, there should be a link in the Help menu.
