Windows cannot complete the extraction.

Recommended Posts

After encrypting to a flash drive, another Windows PC generated the following message when trying to decrypt:

"Windows cannot complete the extraction. The destination file could not be created".

The question is does Meo support the creation of an encrypted file on a flash drive to be read by a PC that does not have Meo installed?

TIA

I'm not sure that I understand the question completely, but yes you can copy the encrypted file to a PC that doesn't have Meo installed, via a flash drive, network copy, download, etc. The file will have a .meo extension, and you'll be prompted to specify the program to use to open the file.

TY for the prompt answer.

A question remains:

If the transferred file (encrypted) carries an extension of .meo how does the recipient PC open the file if it does not have Meo installed?

Thanks again for answering.

When you encrypt the file, choose "Create Self-Decrypting file" in the Encrypt Wizard options, and the result will be a self extracting .exe file that can be decrypted using the key that you provide.
