Hot keys aren't working without fn key

I just got a new laptop with Windows 8 on it. I installed the correct version of Express Scribe and uploaded my file, but I can't get the hot keys to work without hitting the fn key. I've used Express Scribe for a long time, but I never had to hit the fn key with my other laptop. I'm thinking there has to be a quick fix, but I can't figure it out.

Hi nicolemanley, I think this is actually a setting on your computer. It seems that many of the new computers with Windows 8 are set this way. Your best bet will be to do a Google search using the manufacturer and model of your computer on how you set that so as to not have to use the Fn button.
