HD capture card help

I am using an OXX digital high speed dvd maker (referred to by Debut as Dexetek Polaris Video Capture device) to attempt to record Xbox 360 gameplay at 480p. The console is connected by a HD component cable which shows a decent picture on the standard TV setting and an even better picture on the HDTV setting. The problem is that the HDTV setting displays the image output twice, screenshot attached.

 

Does anybody know how i can fix this and get one single widescreen recording?
