Sudden bad video quality

Hay, i recently downloaded the free version of videopad video editor and it's worked great, much better than any other editing software ive used, and ive produced two half hour videos in good quality, but when i tried my third, recorded from my screen, exactly the same as the other two, and added it onto videopad, the quality dramaticly decreased, when the other two had been fine and the thrid was fine on other software, i couldnt work this out, i produced a small clip of it into a movie, still bad quality, blurred and merged, still confuzed, i started a new one and put it on, same thing happened, so i started another new one, but this time with the origional clip i used for my 1st video, and even that was blurred. Please help i don't know what to do.

I have purchased the VideoPad software but have not yet produced a video. (I'm using for the deshaker only, right now.) I was concerned about your experience since I've got "skin in the game" by actually purchasing the software Here are my results:

After making 4 unique movies and repeating one, all output quality was the same. Using adifferent "device" choice, the quality was substantially poorer.

Here's the test:

 

Using NCH's VideoPad, I made 4 unique movies, using all of different but similar material (same camera, same subject material, all files originated the same way). The camera is a JVC Everio HD videocam.

 

The videos from the camera are in the AVCHD format and the file type is .MTS.

But I stabilized all my videos with VideoPad's “De-Shaker, which produces .mp4 files.

I converted the mp4 files using NCH's Prism Converter program into .mpg files.

(I will use another editor to pick and choose the final material I will use later.)

 

So, the pictures are 1920x1080x16M jpg files and the videos are AVCHD files converted twice into .mp3 files.

 

Each movie consists of five elements

a picture

a video

a picture

a video

a picture

 

All evaluations were run on my HD 1920x1080 LCD computer screen.

 

I made my each movie using the .avi output suggested by clicking on the “Computer/Data” output.

Of the 4 movies, they all had equal very good quality.

 

On a hunch, I made 3 copies of Movie 1 in other formats:

 

A 5th movie used Movie1 material but producing the video in *.mpg format .

The quality was the same as the *.avi output

 

A 6th movie used the Movie1 material, but producing the movie in *.mp4 format.with the “Portable Device output.

The quality was substantially poorer than the “Computer/Data” output.

 

A 7th movie used the Movie1 material, but producing the movie in *.mp4 format with the “Portable Device output.

The quality again was substantially poorer than the “Computer/Data” output.

 

All 7 final movies were produced with the default parameters. I altered nothing but the output format.

 

The quality sucked on all "Portable Device" method of output. Is this what you might have done?

 

I can post the videos to YouTube if you need them, but I have to say, the VideoPad product seems quite solid.

I have purchased the VideoPad software but have not yet produced a video. (I'm using for the deshaker only, right now.) I'll run off a few test videos tomorrow to see if the quality degrads onthe 3rd or 4th video. I might get interrupted, but I'll try to do it.

Thank you soo very much, and im sorry i took up your time, i think this was the problem actualy, the first two videos seem to be similar to the origionals now, but the third video didnt change, it looks like it's over-saturated, and thats when i import it onto videopad not just the movie afterwards, and i redcorded it exactly the same as the others, so i wonder if it could be because this movie is 40mins rather than 30? In more detail, the picture in the prieview and where you look to edit and the movie afterwards all seems more saturated than the older ones, so lines are missed out, and it's all a little merged together.

If it's a bad input file, the processing won't ever make it better. It shouldn't degrade noticably, though. Good luck.

Thanks a lot for help, the video was recorded the same as the others, and was the same on other software, so it can't have been the file, but i just tried screen screenshoting it, with the little camera, and on the photo the picture was completley different, just as before, basicly the editing view of it is just disored I dont know why it happened all of a sudden but at least now i know. For anyone else with this problem, just try a screenshot and that's what the movie at the end will look like, thank you for your help, the reason the video i made before was bad quality because of the wrong settings as you pointed out it might be. So everything is sorted now, i hope, thanks a lot i'll continue to use videopad and probably purchace the full version. Thanks for your time and help!
