Hi

This a problem I came across but in fact I hadn't found the correct place to click on.

Yes, you can "Unlink" the sound from a clip in the sequence line and move it about, leaving the clip mute. But as I found, you can't copy/paste it anywhere else. What you may think is now an independant sound file isn't, it is still associated with the parent clip. If you delete the clip, your carefully unlinked and repositioned sound segment will also be deleted.

To create a separate sound file from a clip, you right click the clip in question in the Media list, window not in the sequence line. You will then get the option in the contextual menu that appears to "Save audio track as a separate file".

If you take this option the audio track will appear in the media list window as an mp3 file and at the same time will be automatically saved to the folder on your PC that holds the original video clip.

Hope this helps

Nat

Thanks, Sounds simple enough. But, After right click on file in media list the context menu doesn't give me the option to save as separate file. The options it gives me are, Add item(s)to Sequence, Remove Item(s), Add file(s), Stablize Videos, Remove item, and File details. I do have the paid for version of VideoPad Video editor.

Thanks for the input. You were correct. I had version 2.06. I updated to 2.20 and now have the items in the context menu that you stated. Thanks again. I was using anyvideo converter to save from any video type file to any type sound file. Now I can us the same program to do it all. Merry Christmas
