.vob access

First, thanks for a nice piece of software which I find very useful. My main application is to create DVDs from video clips from our camcorder and Vado HD video camera.

 

Since the DVD compatible .mpg I build had audio sync issues after using it with DVDflick or DVDstyler (but not by itself), I now actually burn a DVD straight from videopad and use the resulting .vob on the DVD with DVDstyler. I use DVDstyler to add nice menues. This approach works well.

 

Since I really just need the .vob, I want to know if there is a way to avoid the actual burning part. For example, videopad likely creates the DVD folder structure somewhere on the hard drive before it burns. Is there an option to access that folder ?

Or is there an option to create an .iso file instead of burning to DVD ?

I found by accident that the VIDEO_TS folder is created in a temp. folder in the /User/name/AppData/Local/Temp folder. If there is no DVD media in the drive it will be deleted after the conversion process and an error message.

 

I also found that if there is a CD-R in the drive videopad will give a error message after the conversion process to give the user a chance to replace the CD with a DVD. At this time the VIDEO_TS folder can be copied to the Desktop, and therefore the folder will be available there after canceling the build process. This way, one can use .vob file with other DVD authoring software like DVDstyle or DVDflick.

 

Obviously it would be preferable if there would be an option to just create the DVD folders without actually burning the DVD.
