  1. I know there's another post with a similar title, but I have investigated it and it doesn't seem to refer to quite the same issue I'm having. This is actually on a friend's computer: I have the paid version of Express Scribe on Windows 7 and I've never had this issue; she is using the free trial of ES, currently, and Windows 8.1. She tried to change the hot-keys in the settings to ones that are more intuititive to her, and then found that they immediately reverted to the defaults, despite saving the changes she had made. Then, she found that even the default hot-keys were not working at all. She had ticked the box to enable global hot-keys. I'm just wondering if anyone had similar experiences. She then tried VLC media player, which behaved in the same way regarding hot-keys, so it's not necessarily an ES issue, but I'd really appreciate any input from people who have had similar problems or have insight into these sorts of computer problems. I imagine it's something to do with Windows 8, which has made me rather nervous, as I will have to upgrade my computer at some point! Many thanks
  2. I bought a brand new DELL 8700 computer in May and am running OS 8.1. I also have the latest version of Express Scribe v5.69 but for ANY video file format I load and play it won't be play in color, just black-and-white. Has anybody else run into this problem and if so (or if not) does anybody recommend what I should do to get the files to play in color? I have not set the computer up with any other settings than factory. Help. Thank you. -David Bogard

My program suddenly won't print to a printer. I can view the receipts but when printed, nothing happens. Printer settings are correct and other programs print without problems.
  4. I grabbed this program the other day to try it out and, although I like the interface and the fact that it lets me directly edit my camera's .mov files, it's at present ultimately worthless for me because of the random crashes that trash my project files. I worked for hours recently on a sequence of videos and VP worked well until suddenly and for no apparent reason, it crashed to desktop. When I reopened VP and loaded in the auto-saved project, it was toast and VP proceeded to import all the clips again (s-l-o-w) and I lost my previously saved edits; it was as if I had begun an entirely new project. It did this several times, crashing randomly. A few times, it reloaded the auto-saved project file, the clips loaded up jiffy quick and the sequence/timeline was quickly filled with processed clips (all green progress bars full) and my edits right where they should be. However, several times I had to start over from scratch because the project file was apparently corrupted during the crash. This suggests the crashes are occurring during auto-save. My drivers and W8.1 are up to date. I have no other relevant/graphic resources running, only VP when this occurs. Sometimes it only crashes to desktop. Other times, I get a BSOD (reason given varies) and a reboot. I don't get crashes with other editors I've tried -- problem is that they either don't allow me to edit .mov's properly or I don't care for the interface (e.g., Movie Maker). I did a forum search and didn't see where this is a commonly-reported bug. Does VP just not like my particular machine? 5. I am on a 64-bit Windows 8.1 laptop, and have worked with Videopad a lot in the past. And I thought that version 2.4.1 was, by far, the best version they've ever released. I still have it installed on my other computer, a Windows 7 desktop, and I was interested in installing it on my laptop. However, when I downloaded that particular version for my laptop, it said that it was not compatible with my version of Windows. I figured I could get it to work by installing it and then messing around with its settings in compatibility mode. However, this warning will not let me install it anyway. I was wondering if there were any ways around this and if 2.4.1 would even work under compatibility mode on WIndows 8 or 8.1. I was also thinking I could copy the Videopad 2.4.1 files from my Program Files folder on my Win7 desktop, putting them on a flash drive and then just pasting them into my program files (create a shortcut, badda bing badda boom) on my laptop, but I'm not sure if that would work. Thanks.
