I am one of the developers of WavePad.

Thanks so much for your suggestion, we already made that as a todo item on our list. Hopefully, it will get done within a fortnight. So please update your WavePad next month, I'm sure it will be finished that time.

Pls try MixPad, it enables us do multiple sound track editing.

Another point might help when you do similar operations next time is that you should press pause after your first recording. Then press resume, it will continue from you last paused point and continue recording

Even in that case you found it is overwritten, you can press undo to recover it as long as you didn't close the window

When you close a file that you worked on, the prompt shows up to ask you save it or not. As long as you didn't choose to discard it, you should be able to find it back. Did you choose don't save?

It is a metronome feature just added which can be closed by either two ways below:

1. Click the green "Menu" button on the top left, go to "Control" -> "Record" -> "Turn metronome on / off"

2. If your WavePad has the toggle button "Metronome" in "Record" tabbed menu, it can be easily closed by clicking that button
