Free software locks up, says I have to buy it to open again

I cannot open eisetupfree.exe on my Mac? -
I used Express Invoice free version for many years. I upgraded my MacBook operating system and the EI software said I need to upgrade it. I downloaded Express Invoice Plus and installed it. Now it says my trial period is over and I have to purchase it. I am a one man business that does a very limited amount of work. Is there still EI softwar available to me that is free?
