After a satisfactory trial period I have purchased the express burn software, but after the message that the download is ready to play it is just rejected by my CD player I am using same media as before. However when I perform the same operation using windows media player I have no problems and as I write am listening to the CD. Can anyone suggest a solution to my problem.

Just to be clear, everything (burner/disc/player) is exactly the same as when you were on the free trial?

Okay, so I got it to run from a script, sort of. When I execute my script, it opens up a window that asks for the password. My script has the password in it. If I enter the password in the prompt it works, but the point of the script is to have it run automatically, no human intervention. Anyone get this to work? Below is my script.

 

meo -decrypt test1.meo -password fred -destination C:\EDI\MEO -quiet -exit

I read the topic in here about what to do after purchasing, but I am still confused. I have the codes and everything, but how do I actually start using it? If I purchased it, why does it have the "Buy Online" option at the top? I don't mean to sound like I don't know what I am doing, but I am wondering if someone could help me out so that I can start using it! What did I do wrong? Thanks.

Like the program but I have a few questions. Purchased Express Burn (Plus

Edition) & when I go to the about page there is a link to upgrade online.

This link takes me to the same program I purchased. The .exe simply calls it

Espress Burn not Express Burn Plus. Am I missing something here? Also, why

is Express Zip in my context menu? There is no option to add or remove it in

options. In fact I don't see a reference to it at all in the program itself.

And there is an icon in scheduled tasks to run a job. I haven't scheduled

any jobs to be run. I've disabled it by changing the registry key from 1 to

0 which removed it. But it returned on reboot (expressburnShakeIcon). I think the options menu could be more robust than what

it is now. Please provide any explanations to these questions. Especially

the burn vs. plus question. I'm in no way dissatisfied, just curious about

what seem to be mysteries to me. Thanks for your help & an otherwise great

program.

A couple of answers:

- The executable name is the same across all versions of Express Burn.

- Not sure how you got the Express Zip context menu (I assume you mean the Windows Explorer context menu). To remove it, either try a registry cleaner or you can install and then remove Express Zip.

- The Upgrade is somewhat generic. I'll add a suggestion that we remove it for top tier registrations.

- The scheduled tasks are internal to the application and should not be changed manually unless instructed to by support.

I have downloaded four Public Domain files (each movement) of Schubert Symphony No. 3. When I play in in my Windows Media Player it plays without a problem. However, when I load it into Express Burn 4.26 All I get is a burst of static then nothing. This is the only download with which I have had this problem. How can I get this fixed?

The company that I work for just purchased 250 FastFox Business Licenses and we are deploying the tool to the group.

 

We want to leverage "shared shortcuts", however, a shared shortcut will, sometimes, need customization by each user.

 

For example:

 

"Hi, I'm John, from the xyz team and I'll take care of your case."

 

"John" and "xyz" would be onetime customized words by each user. Therefore, it can't be shared the way it was originally created by the administrator.

 

I thought about making each user to "save data" the shared shortcuts to a local file and then "reload data" the local file. Therefore, each user can edit the shortcuts.

 

Any other ideas (less cumbersome)? Any new feature being developed on this matter?

Hi Andre,

We don't currently have anything like that, but we will certainly look into adding it in a future release.

The only less cumbersome idea I had: When you create the shortcut, use a variable name like %variable_name%. For instance, "Hi, I'm %name%, from the %teamname% team and I'll take care of your case." Then, when John gets the shortcut file he could open it with notepad and do a Replace All on %name% and %teamname%. That's still cumbersome, but would be slightly faster if there are a lot of shortcuts.

I can't really say much more about our issue.

We had Fling configured to upload files every 30 minutes on one folder tree that contains log files written to very often, and confiured to upload automatically on any file change another folder tree that contains exes and config files etc that hardly ever change.

We have this exact same setup on several other computers without any issues, but on this particular computer I saw in task manager that the number of handles in use by Fling was continually growing.

Without being able to reproduce this problem I doubt you'll ever be able to fix it, the problem may not even be with your software.

 

The laptop that this was running on has recently developed a problem with its screen, so has been replaced, the issue has not been seen on the new laptop.

 

Thanks for looking in to this for us, as far as I'm concerned there is no longer an issue, I expect SOMDWX will reply with more details that could help.

UPDATE:

 

After obseving the non-page pool resources in Windows, It appears that Fling is chewing up all the non-page memeory and not releasing it.

We've done some testing for this but we haven't been able to reproduce the issue. Can you give us some details about how you have Fling set up and what functionality might be causing this?

When I create a simple text, the default it to make it a Private Shortcut. I NEVER need private shortcuts, only network shortcuts. Is there a way to set FastFox to default to network instead of private?

Unfortunately we don't have a way to set the default type of shortcut yet. We will look into adding some functionality along these lines for our next release. Thanks!

I just downloaded 4.40 and burning video's works fine but when I burn Audio CD's and play them in my truck they sound good at first but then it becomes Garbaled. Any suggestions to assist me on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Yes I have tried the 3-letter keywords, but the 2.10 version is not allowing it. Admin states that this "bug" is fixed after versions 2.03, but it is not working for me (I have a paid copy, version 2.10, downloaded July 20, 2011). I tried running it in XP compatibility mode, but that doesn't work either. Please, NCH, could you fix this (and answer my support ticket)? I depend on FastFox for my work and its very crippling to me to not be able to add or edit my entries (I have my database of expansions from my old version which was on my old XP machine which died last week).

Thanks to a lot of help from Stacey, we were finally able to fix this bug. We will be releasing a new version of FastFox shortly.

Exactly my experience as well. When I look back through this Forum, I can see several other posts and threads, under other headings, reporting essentially the same failing.

 

Why is no one from NCH taking any notice of this FUNDAMENTAL flaw. If an FTP utility can't transfer files from a desktop to a server, it is, to put not too fine a point on it, a waste of time. Reaction please, NCH, or do you want your users going elsewhere. Rather easy in these days of social media etc to put the word about that your product is rubbish, and that you provide no support, not even to the extent of commenting on posts in your own forums. Surprised that no one has started doing that yet.

hello, I have MEO encryption software installed on my Windows 7 DELL N5010 Inspiron laptop. If I select an Excel file for encryption with a right mouse click I don't see the option to encrypt with MEO on the short-cut menu. I have seen it previously on my laptop before I re-installed the OS with service pack 1. Please can you explain to me what I must do to have the MEO encryption option again on the shortcut menu?

I also am having a problem trying to burn software after ripping. I get: There were errors burning your audio cd disc.

Error message:Error writing to disc. Additional Error Info: Sense data: 04 09 00.

This program worked awesome as a trial and then right after I bought it it started doing this.

Yes I downloaded a so called fix...that didn't help. I'd appreciate any help someone can give me.

04 09 00 is TRACK FOLLOWING ERROR. Generally, errors beginning with 04 point to hardware failures (but not always). Is it possible for you to try with a different burner?

It's tricky to diagnose problems with AVI's without actually having the file to look at. As a last resort you can try converting the AVI file with Pixillion (http://www.nchsoftware.com/imageconverter/index.html) to WMV or even AVI and you shouldn't lose any quality. Pixillion is free to try, so it might be worth a shot.

On a pc I would recommend Word.

On a mac use AppleWorks.

We've had many suggestions for this and plan to implement it soon. In the meantime, you can take a screen capture of Burn and print that.

- Open Express Burn and add the files you are going to burn

- Size the window so that all of the files are display

- Press ALT+Print Screen (usually above the number pad)

- Open Microsoft Paint or Word

- Paste the screen shot (CTRL+V) into Paint or Word and print!

I admit I am handicapped when it comes to this stuff so please bear with this 66 year old geezer! I just want to burn a disk to play on my TV DVD and it seems I am having a rough time figuring out that simple task. I have a DVD player in my computer so I assume it can burn things but somehow I just cant to it. In the past, yesterday, I had no trouble burning CDs for use on the computer but now I decided to upgrade so I can show my friends my trip to Italy on their DVD players, I drag the folder with the files into the burn box or whatever you call that blank area.. and all I get is something about creating an ISO file..

 

I just want to get the pics on the DVD like I used to do when I was burning CD.

First, when you are ready to burn the disc, does the big button in the lower right say "Create Image" or "Burn DVD". If it says "Create Image", click it and on the "Burn DVD Menu" dialog, change the "Burner Drive" drop down list to your DVD drive.

If your drive is not in the list, Express Burn cannot find your drive. It is possible that your DVD player is not capable of burning DVDs, especially if it is a few years old or a laptop DVD.

Sorry, we don't currently have a way to disable the splash screen.

when i burn the dvd the copy's picture quality is messed up. the picture is distorted and scrambled with just a screen of many colors. how do i fix this please? i am using the plus edition and also the time takes so long! some one please help.

I've received a few messages regarding MP3 CDs and Express Burn. There seems to be a little confusion over the topic, so I'm posting an update we made to the help files. This will be in the upcoming release, but in the meantime:

An MP3 CD is simply a data disc which contains .mp3 (or possibly .wma and .ogg) files which can be read and played by a standard CD or DVD player. The main benefit to creating an MP3 CD over a conventional Audio CD is that .mp3 files are highly compressed, so more songs are able to be burned to the disc. In contrast, if .mp3 files are used to create an Audio CD (a CD type that records only uncompressed .wav files, meaning your .mp3s will be converted), the 74 or 80 minute play time of the disc limits the number of songs that can be stored.

To create an MP3 CD, select the "CD Data" disc type in the toolbar and then add .mp3 files to the file list. Burn the disc as normal. The disc can now be played in any player that supports MP3 CDs.

Please Note:

There is no official standard for MP3 CDs. As such, playback may vary from player to player and can lead to imcompabilities and difficulty in playing discs. The following suggestions can help eliminate some problems:

* Limit the .mp3 filename to under 40 characters

* Do not place .mp3 files in sub folders

* Do not use special characters (i.e. UNICODE) in .mp3 filenames

Also note that some players, especially older ones, do not support playback of MP3 discs. Check with manufacturer documentation for more information.

I have the same question, I just paid and downloaded which gave me v 2.21 Then checking on why I can't register I find out registration has been added to a newer version. And using the find updates link in Fling surely take me to the page where I can see the registration has been solved BUT clicking on the download link gives me another copy of 2.21 :-( And it's been more than 3 months since the OP posted this?

This has been fixed and will be in the next release of Express Burn. Thanks much to PTCruzin for helping us to track it down!

In the meantime, if possible, try a different burner to create the disc. It seems that some burners were able to correct the way we were writing the disc.
