All;
The challenge:
ECLIPSE scoping software .wav file too big to share via FTP-COMMANDER freeware. Time constraints prevent mailing; distance constraints prevent messenger delivery. Must be done online.
Attempted solution:
Convert the .wav file to .mp3 format to decrease its size and allow sharing. Put file on a CD and read it into adjacent computer containing NCH Swift software. Read the CD on that system, convert the .wav file to .mp3, convert the resulting .mp3 file back to .wav, use Express Burn to write the resulting .wav file to a CD for return. Objective is to see if the twice-converted .wav file will still work with the ECLIPSE scoping software.
The problem:
Conversion appears to work as advertised; however, the resulting .wav file is some 50% bigger than the original (72.8 MB vs. 50.1 MB--intermediate .mp3 file is 36.4 MB, the expected reduction.) The final CD shows no content after using Express Burn.
SO, WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? This is, admittedly, my first attempt to use NCH SwiftSound, but I am a journeyman computer user.
Thanks for any useful suggestions,
