  1. Just downloaded the new version. Can't seem to rename tracks. No way to set/adjust recording volume for tracks? No longer a punch-in/punch-out option to fix mistakes? (that's an ESSENTIAL element). Anybody know if there's any document showing the changes from the old? The included Help is almost useless. After searching all over for how to select the sample rate for a track (used to be with the track recording input options), FINALLY found in the general Options menu a place to select a blanket sample rate. When I exported and finished editing a track in WavePad, there was no "reload" arrow box/icon to load it back in. Finally found a right-click option to reload, but the track wave pattern LOOKED the same, though it sounded new. Also tried recording a track in WavePad and then loading it into Mixpad to line it up with another track. There are no more buttons to incrementally move a track to line it up. I bought the CD for the "new" product about a year ago but haven't been able to use it/get it to work. When I chose microphone input for a track, the LED bar became 3/4 solid and no movement showed when I spoke into the mic (worked fine in the old version, works fine in WavePad and a cheap single recording program I had to buy in a pinch, so It's not my mic or soundcard). This new download requires use of Windows Record Mixer. At least I've finally gotten my microphone to work. I DID the suggested backup up of the old version, but when the new didn't work, and I tried to re-install the old, it had the new skin, and didn't work. I assume there's some internet link that won't let you reload the old version. (By the way, I had tried the trial version of new software. When I couldn't get it to work, I contacted Support who said, "Too bad. Works fine here. Buy it and maybe then we can help you.") I'm beginning to wonder if the guy who wrote the original software left NCH and took his notes with him, and the new guys don't know how to program the features that seem to have disappeared. Why else would they drop so much capability? I'm VERY frustrated, and about to buy something else (which saddens me, 'cause I really liked the old one). If they put as much effort into the function of the product as they do in getting people to buy products/upgrades(emails every month or two, it seems)their business would be so much better. They're setting themselves up for a mass exodus. SO...can anybody tell me how to set a recording level, rename tracks (from "Untitled"), fix mistake spots, or reload an edited track so it's new pattern shows?

    making cd

Hope you figured it out, since you posted almost 4 months ago. But in case you haven't: Before you record the vocals on the second track, be sure to un-punch the Record button for the first track, and make sure the channel you've chosen in the Track Recording Options for the second track is 'microphone', not What U Hear. Also, use headphones when recording vocals; if you don't, the speaker sound is going to enter the microphone along with your voice. Happy singing.
  3. A possible problem with Ace's suggestion is when you want to record vocals (I assume you meant you would record guitar, bass, and vocals at separate times) the speaker sound might bleed into the mic. I just use headphones when I record vocals. As long as the track you're recording into is the only one you've punched the "record" button for(and you've set the Track Recording Options to pick up the correct channel for your current instrument or mic), and the other track(s) are not muted, you'll hear everything as you sing (or play) but just that one part will be recorded, on that track.
  4. Or if you have WavePad you can edit one track in there to change the speed without changing the pitch, then dump it back into Mixpad. Only you'd have to guess or use trial and error to find out how much to alter the speed. Make note of the first (unchanging) track's length and then try to edit the vocal track to match? The Speed Change setting (in WavePad) seems to be a number representing the percentage of the original tempo. FYI, if you slow it down alot (75% or less) it makes it sound like they're playing/singing underwater.
  5. I've also been maddened by the out-of-sync problem. One thing that helps is to set the recording sample rate for that track very high (88200 or 96000). Probably uses a lot of memory, but it works.
  6. Forgive my ignorance, but are you saying that when you try to play the files with other programs (Windows Media Player, iTunes, etc.), the part after 3 minutes is now gone, or just when you play them in MixPad? I purchased the full version, and sometimes I edit a loaded track to slow it way down (in WavePad), which increases its length. Before I load it back into MixPad I have to be sure to "Increase project length" (in the Track dropdown menu, or using Ctrl+I) enough increments for the new/longer version to fit, or I lose the end of it. I've also never had problems with MixPad altering the original files. It just loads a copy. Maybe Trial Version is the problem for you. Very sorry for your losses.

    Keyboard

ACE, what other settings did you tweak? I have a keyboard that has a USB connection, but I cannot get the driver to show in the drop down device list in the Set Track Recording Options list. I've been plugging the keyboard's phone/output into my soundcard's mic input, but it's kind of noisy/hissy, and when I also want to record a vocal track I keep having to unplug and replug the mic and keyboard into the one jack in my soundcard (pain in the neck). nibor
