    temp file creation

I'm running the 2-port USB CAHTA board with the latest versions of both the driver (5.0.3) and IVM (4.20). Sorry for my post in the VRS forum regarding an IVM problem but I think that this is the same problem with both apps. Please see my follow up post in the IVM forum that provides a lot more detail. This is a temp file that gets created immediately after the first message (i.e. fresh after a restart of the IVM service) is recorded. The temp file QUICKLY grows even though there's no activity going on. If I call the system, it will answer like normal, and record my msg like normal. In the meantime, the file grows until the hard drive is full. It grew to over a gig in a minute. There's no way for me to do anything with the file since ivm.exe has ahold of it. I can't copy, delete, rename, listen to it, etc...it is a VERY serious problem as far as I'm concerned and I've been able to reproduce it on 3 separate computers (Windows 2000 Server, XP Pro, and Windows 2003 Server). I've tested a single line, a hunt group, etc...same result every time. My post to the IVM forum with full details is here. I would appreciate a prompt reply. If I cannot get this resolved, I will have to request a refund for the CAHTA board. Thanks , Jack
  2. I'm really struggling to make IVM work for me. I've had issues getting it to work in my office where I have 2 numbers on a hunt group. There were some issues which MAY have been caused by problems with the lines themselves. Regardless, I installed IVM 4.20 on my laptop and connected my Synway SHT-2B/USB 2-line device to it. I took this setup to my house tonight and tested it on my phone at home. Things started looking extremely well. I made about 35 calls and it worked without a hitch. Until all of a sudden my hard drive ran out of disk space! An 80 gig file was located in c:\windows\temp! After spending a couple of minutes trying to figure out when and how this was happening, I found the following: (note: let's assume that this sequence is done after a clean restart of the IVM Windows service and there) I make a call to the line, IVM picks up normally, and I leave a message. At this point, there's no temp file. I hang up and IVM detects a disconnect and releases the line. Right away, a temp is created in c:\windows\temp and starts to grow. At this point, there is no call being made, nothing at all. IVM is "supposedly" idle. Keep in mind that this starts after IVM disconnects the line, not during the time I leave the message or before. The file grows at a staggering rate, within a minute it's almost a gig. My hard drive is working overtime. I place another call to the system, and it picks up like normal. The line is NOT busy. Everything seems normal. In the meantime, the temp file is growing. And this goes on and on until the hard drive runs out of space. If I restart the IVM service, the temp file is deleted automatically. This is a section of the IVM log file that shows the sequence for one call. Is there anything that looks different? I'm wondering if there's something missing such as something that would stop the recording of the .wav file. Notice that there's a "Recording File..." but there's no indication that the recording of the file stopped. I'm not sure if this is anything. 21:10:17 Ringing on Line CAHTA 1 detected. The system is very clean. In fact I rebuilt this laptop about 3 days ago. There is NO WAY that this is normal. I'm runnng the latest versions of both IVM as well as the Synway drivers. I also ran Process Explorer (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx) to see what is actually creating the temp file. And it was in fact IVM.exe. I thought that maybe it's the Synway drivers themselves. I suppose it could still be technically the drivers doing this but I think you need to be an expert in telephony to understand the settings and troubleshoot them. If anybody has any thoughts or advice, I would appreciate the feedback. Thank you, Jack

    temp file creation

I'm having the same problem. I've been testing IM with a 2-line USB CAHTA device and I've been having all sorts of problems. I throught it's the computer its installed on (Windows 2000 on a new Dell SC420 server). So I installed it on an XP Pro SC420 server and the same thing is happening. I've been hammering it with lots of calls to make sure the system is solid before I start using it for my customers. Every 10-15 calls, it sort of gets into a wierd "state" where it thinks it answered the line and keeps recording this HUGE file in \windows\temp until the HD fills up. The line in the meantime is held up and I end up killing IVM or restarting the computer. This is extremely frustrating and I'm seriously considering returning the modem for a refund. Will someone at NCH please provide some feedback??? Jack
  4. I got this to work eventually. I had to re-install the synway drivers about 3 times before it finally worked. I don't know if the problem is technically the Synway drivers or with IVM. Like I said before, the drivers themselves worked because the Config and Test program detected the device. Strange....
  5. I struggled with this and a bunch of other things last night while dealing with some general modem detection issues. Regarding your particular issue, the mailbox ID is actually the name of the mailbox. When you first setup IVM, for example, there is one mailbox and its name is Default. So for this mailbox, you would enter 'default' (without the single quotes) and the numeric code that you picked for the password. I hope this helps. Now if someone would tell me what the default login/password (or how to set them up) for the web management interface, I'll be good to go. Jack
  6. I'm not sure what I'm missing here. I bought and just received the TELCTAUSB2 device (SHT-2B/USB). I installed the latest drivers from Synway (5.0.3) and IVM version 4.20. The drivers seem to work fine. Device Manager shows "SHT-2B/USB" under "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers". The ShCtiConfig program detected the device and its serial number. The Test program seems to see the 2 channels and the Pickup/Hangup functions generate clicking sounds on the device. But IVM does not see the lines. When I go to the Telephony tab in the Settings screen and click Add, it doesn't find them. It shows "New SIP based VoIP Account..." and "New hardware not in list" in the list but I don't think that this is what I want. I'm under the understanding that IVM has built-in support for these devices and will use the underylying drivers and API to detect the devices and control them. Is there a step that I've missed? Can someone tell me if the 2 lines on the device are supposed to be "virtualized" and be detected as 2 different "modems" in the Windows control panel? Is there any other driver/setup that I need that will install wave/multimedia drivers for the device? Any help will be greatly appreciated, Jack
