Try running the computer on battery power. It worked for me! I also couldn't figure out what I was doing differently to make the program so slow then my battery was running out of power so I started charging and like magic the frame rate went up!

I had this problem until I plugged my computer into the battery power! Now it works at 30 fps! For some reason it will only operate at this speed when the computer is charging.
