  1. Thanks for your comments. This appears to confirm my thoughts on then problem photopete
  2. Thanks for your comment. This appears to confirm my thoughts on the problem I was having. photopete
  3. Have now found a solution. Still not absolutely certain about the reasons for Nero problems (I think it is to do with ID3 tags), but life is too short to continue the search for a definitive answer. photopete
  4. I'll try to keep this simple. Process is as follows - 1. Windows MP Version 9 to create wma file from disc 2. Switch Version 1.33 to convert wma to mp3 file 3. Stamp Version 1.0 to create/amend ID3 tag information 4. Nero 7 to list and burn mp3 files to CD (as mp3 - NOT like NCH which converts them back to WAV or whatever and limits playtime to 70 plus minutes) When attempting to add files to list - Nero 7 Analyzing - the screen freezes, and on breaking out the report "Program not responding" is shown. The problem appears to be associated with the ID3 tags - some tracks will be accepted if ID3 editing has not taken place. Note: This process is OK if I create the files and transfer them to (for example) a USB stick for playing on another PC, and the track identity info is shown correctly. So, problem appears to be with Nero. Any ideas? photopete
  5. Because of the problems already listed elsewhere about NCH RIP failures to identify tracks via freeDB, I switched to using Windows Media to rip tunes from CDs that I own. These WMA files are then converted to mp3 using Switch and then Stamp to edit the ID3 tags if necessary. Because NCH Express Burn will not burn mp3 to CD (it converts them back limiting CD to 70 odd minutes) I tried using Nero to burn the CD. This will quite happily work with mp3 files created through Audacity (used to capture and convert vinyl records) but locks up with the NCH-created mp3s. Any advice or answers will be much appreciated.
