I also have the same problem. Intermittently but quite often the foot pedal does not release when you press it,and the dictator continues to talk even though your foot is off the pedal. I would LOVE to find a fix for this problem; it definitely impacts my work.

I don't know if anybody ever looks at these forums anymore, but just in case: Does anyone know whether it makes a difference if you are using a cable vs an analog phone line? I am having problems with Dial Dictate suddenly saying "press 9 to continue" when the dictator has not stopped talking, or suddenly rewinding to the beginning of a dictation while the dictator is still talking. I used this program for years without any problems and then switched my phone service from AT&T to Comcast (in San Francisco). Might this be a reason for the problems? For some reason, Dial Dictate is acting strange. 1) In the middle of a dictation, the program suddenly says "dial 9 to continue." There were no pauses and the line was clear. 2) In the middle of a dictation, the program suddenly goes back to the beginning of a dictation. Does anybody know how to fix these problems? Thanks-

Per your response, if I purchased a user license 5+ years ago, I will have to purchase a new license for the new version of Dial Dictate, is that correct? Is there an upgrade price? I ended up getting a Windows 7 computer for my new computer. Also, I have 2 computers and sometimes I use one and sometimes the other one. Can I install Dial Dictate on both computers and use the same license? The same user is dictating on both computers. Thanks for your help! Sally

I have Dial Dictate v 4.05 on a computer running Windows 98. I am about to get a new computer running Windows XP. Can I use the same Dial Dictate program on the new computer? Is there a difference between this version and the newest version of Dial Dictate? Thanks!

I am also having the same problem. I recently downloaded the new version and now intermittently the foot pedal stays on even though I have released it. Using Windows XP.

I recently uploaded the new version of Express Scribe. After I downloaded it, a WMV file on my computer (Windows Media player file) suddenly changed its icon to that of Express Scribe. It is a video file, so I don't want Express Scribe to open that kind of file. Under Options and File types, there used to be a list of types of files that would open with Express Scribe. Now when I click that link, the only thing that opens up is a window with two choices: Set default RAW settings OR Set default VOX settings. How can I get that list back so I can choose which files I want to open with Express Scribe?

The last update I have (4.29) eliminated the "mark file as done" icon on the main toolbar where it used to be, and now it is a very tiny icon on the toolbar below. I would love to be able to customize which icons I want on the main toolbar, and which ones I want on the smaller one below. Is there a way to do that? Thanks!

I got the files from Dial Dictate. They are the exact same files I have been using for several years. I used the same process to take them off my computer that has the dictation software, and put them on my computer that has Express Scribe. The only way I could get the files off the CD was to copy them onto my desktop and then pull them from the desktop into Express Scribe. The list of files on the CD comes up when I click on that drive in "my computer." I can also play a CD audio from that drive, so I don't think the drive is bad. ?????? I am completely puzzled.

Hi, I have used Express Scribe for several years and love it. Yesterday I tried to load some files from my CD drive and the program froze up. It wouldn't load. I checked the files on the CD from My Computer and they looked like normal Express Scribe files. But when I tried to open them from the CD, I also got an error message, something about Codecs. I haven 't done anything different than usual. Help!!!! Any ideas? Thanks so much-

Hello- I go into settings and file types and click WAV files as one of the file types for Express Scribe to play, and then click OK. The screen goes back to the list of files to type. However, when I go back into settings and file types, WAV file is not checked. No matter how many times I check it, the next time I open it, the check has disappeared. Any ideas??? Thanks-

Hello- I am on a PC with screen resolution 1024 x 768. The Express Scribe screen is so small I can barely see it, and I can't find a way to change it. Is there any way to increase the size of the font that displays the list of files? I could not find it under settings. Thanks!

I uploaded the new version 4.13, and every time I open the program, the Welcome message file appears. I mark it done, and the next time I open the program, there it is again! Does anyone else have this problem? Do you know how I can make it go away forever? Thanks!
