I have a Conexant D850 PCI V.92 Modem and have installed TRX Call Recorder. I know that this is a voice modem, but I cannot record voice calls. Can anyone help me figure out what I need to do in order to make the recorder work properly with this modem?

What I found on the internet didn't show that modem as TAPI compliant. It may be but it didn't say anything about that in the specs. That's the first thing to check.

Don

I search a fair bit, and what I found was that I is not 100%TAPI compliant, I found some "alternate" software would work quite well, but all ran into problems. When testing for compliance/ support I queried using the AT commands. The modem does not support the featires required, in particular the AT#CLS command is not supported

The is the diagnostic output from may machine running the lattest driver from dell.

Apparently there are some 3rd party drivers arround, but I found an alternate method to acheive what I needed so I didn't persure it any further.

If I need to, I will just purchase one of the "supported/known to work modems" as they are not very expensive, and I was spending way to much time on the problem.

You may try to look at their website to see if they have a newer driver that may work better.

Don

Yep. I did check that. I do have the latest (DELL) driver. I also tried chasing down drivers provided by the card manufacturer (Anatel), and the chip manufacturer(Conexant, Now Rockwell), but all to no avail.

If anyone ever finds a driver that works. I would love to know.

I tried a Conexant RD01-D850 which is what I assume you are referring to. It did not work. I did find an updated driver at http://members.driverguide.com/driver/deta...driverid=575484. It didn't work for me either. Please let me know if you get this thing working. <_<

I went out and purchased a USR5699B and it won't work either. grrr I am getting frustrated. I haven't even gotten to try the program yet.

Wendy, you can't just use and old data/fax modem with IVM. Because IVM is used for voice telephony applications and not just data streams, there are some specific requirements for the hardware.

These requirements are:

1) The modem is TAPI compliant

2) The modem has a Voice feature, often labelled as "voice modem"

They tend to sell for around $30 (compared to a regular data/fax modem which sells for $5 - $15)

Any modem which does not meet those requirements either won't show up in IVM's device list, or will simply fail to work properly with the software. Please check with the manufacturer to make sure these features are supported before purchasing the modem.

Also, this page on NCH's website will help you determine the compatibility your modem (or one you plan to buy): http://nch.com.au/ivm/modems.html

Conexant D850 56K V.9x DFVc Modem for my Dell E521

Though DFVc stands Data, Fax, and Voice compatible, this modem is not truly Voice compatiable

Both these AT commands indicate it is not a voice modem.

AT+FCLASS=? - 0,1

AT#CLS=? - COMMAND NOT SUPPORTED

Dell Quality contol strikes again. :(

I have a Conexant D850 PCI V.92 and it worked fine originally when I had Trx V 4.20.

I had to update to V 4.31 because I had to set up a new Hard Drive on the same machine and the program states it cannot use it because it is not 100% Tapi complient.
