Re-record issue

I'm a newbie to MixPad software, but not necessarily to recording with software.

The problem I'm having is that the re-record button is supposed to erase the previous recording of the clip, and start fresh. IOW, it doesn't allow sound on sound, which the regular record button allows. However, that's not what's happening for me. It is allowing sound on sound no matter which button I push to record.

I hope that some one can help. Thank you in advance.

Please elaborate on " It is allowing sound on sound "... basically this is the software main functionality, it allows to record and mix tracks, when you play it, it will play all the tracks at the same time, regardless if the sound overlaps the previous or next track. Please review.
