KMNJ
I have some audio files that I've converted to wav and mp3 using WavePad and Switch Sound File Converter. The wav files are very large but I can edit them in WavePad and play using Windows Media Player. The mp3's are smaller files (which I want) and they also play fine in Windows Media Player. But, if I try to edit the mp3 in WavePad, they take much, much longer to open than the much larger wav files. The mp3 files take several minutes to open(~10 minutes) and the much larger wav files open in 20-30 seconds. I've already cleared the cache (deleted all files in C:\Users\[userid]\AppData\Roaming\NCH Software\WavePad) but opening mp3 is still very slow/unusable. Any additional help would be appreciated. thanks
nchBen
Hi KMNJ, How long are these mp3 files you are trying to open? Regards, Ben
LCIinc
I'm having the same problem. A 30 minute 128k/b mp3 file is 27.8MB in size and takes 5 seconds to open in Aud CC, the same file takes over 25 minutes to open in Wavpad. Any ideas? Gekker
Try this: Uninstall WavePad, then remove a folder called "WavePad" from these locations: - C:\Program Files (x86)\NCH Software\ - C:\ProgramData\NCH Software\ (if you can't find the ProgramData folder, set Windows to show hidden files and folders) - C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\NCH Software\ (if you can't find the AppData folder, set Windows to show hidden files and folders) Restart the PC, reinstall WavePad from http://www.nch.com.au/components/wpsetup.exe If the issue persists, enter a support ticket at http://www.nch.com.au/support/index.html
LCIinc
Thanks. I believe the problem was loading the file from a network drive. Don't know why that would matter but opening large mp3 files saved to my local disc processes quickly as they should.
