Mic/Line Inputs Way Too Hot / Jibberish

I am using a the Focusrite 18i20 with a Mac running the Sierra OS. When recording mono or stereo tracks on the instruments inputs 1 or 2 (or both), the recording performs as expected. When recording on input mic / line inputs 3 through 8, one of two things happen:

 

1. The track records a clip that is all digital sounding gibberish. This occurs even if i have everything dialed WAY back on my interface. Even if I have everything dialed completely back, the bars still peak out before hitting record. Note, I'm running DIs in between instrument and interface.

 

2. The application crashes and tells me that a SIGNAL11 error has occurred.

 

I do not have these problems on ProTools, so I know it is related to Mixpad only.

 

I would really like to keep using Mixpad as I am really fast with it and can get ideas down really well. This is a showstopper, though.

 

Any ideas?
