Levels Too High When Importing FLAC Files From Hard Drive

After using WavePad quite successfully for some time, I now have an issue I don't have a solution for and I was hoping someone here could help.

After uploading a FLAC music file, the file appears in WavePad as a long series of Red/Grey/Pink bars that stretch horizontally. In addition, the sound from the file is extremely distorted. This issue has only started recently. Any idea on what could be causing the issue and how can I correct it?

Much thanks for any assistance!

John

In addition, it seems my issue only happens when attempting to upload a FLAC file made directly from a cd rip from my collection. MP3 files do not have the Red/Grey/Pink bar/distorted sound problem. Again...I've been using WavePad along with my stored FLAC files successfully for over a year now.

Hi Ben -

I've ripped my cd collection to FLAC files onto a dedicated hard drive using dBpoweramp cd ripper using it's default compression level 5. I'm not sure where I can locate each files bit depth however. The odd thing about this is that I've used WavePad without issues for over a year, with my exact set up, without issues....until now. I can't help but to think there's some setting in WavePad I've unknowingly changed that's causing this issue. I'm completely stumped.

Thanks for your help Ben!
