Winfried
Hello Since Audacity seems unable to do this, I'm looking for an alternative. I often need to edit an audio file by selecting several parts, and deleting the rest in one go. Ideally, I'd like to avoid having to name each section ("Regions" in Audacity) and have the software simply keep track of sections I selected, but it's a minor issue. Can WavePad do this? Thank you. Chris75
Hello, Sadly at this moment Wavepad does not offer the option to select different regions or sections of the recording to be deleted in one go.
vapors
As a user of WavePad (and Audacity) in my workflow I try to learn from and/or help out with questions posed in this forum. I am trying to imagine a scenario where what you are suggesting would be useful (and I don't question your desire to do so in an efficient manner.) My process would be to work from a copy of the original, deleting unwanted sections individually as I went along. (or copying the sections wanted and pasting into a new file.) Not that this helps you much; my curiousity gets the better of me sometimes.....
nchBen
Hi Winfried, The closest thing WavePad has to this is to use its regions feature. It is quite simple and I think should do what you need. Here is the process: 1. Select a region you want to keep 2. Press Ctrl-R 3. Just accept the default region name and press OK 4. Repeat until all the sections you want have been processed 5. Go to the region list dialog and right click and select Assemble... 6. Select all the regions and click "Add" 7. Click Assemble. 8. This will create a new file with all the regions placed sequentially Note you can use the Options button in the Assemble dialog to choose the size of the gap which is placed between each region.
