Audio Recording Jumps / Skips

Hello. I've recently downloaded the free version of mix pad and used it for the first time yesterday to record drums / vocals / guitar via one mic.

 

The recording skips regularly and is therefore unusable as it is.

 

Can anyone help with why this is?

 

I wondered whether it was to do with the processing / sample rate.

Hey, I've been using this software for 2.5 yrs now.

The thing is this, if your recording ‎inputs are too high, loud or bright, you will experience some sort of fuzz or humm...

This skipping can only be down to a couple of things I guess, which may be soundcard or hardware related possibly.

Other than that, this could be a devil‎.

Hope you get to the bottom of it.

Thanks GL. I'm really not sure what it is but was going to try increase the sample rate for the next recording and see if that helps.

Hi Andy_F,

The problem you are describing is consistent with issues you get when the computer's CPU is struggling to keep up with the processing demands of the program. Could you describe a little bit about your recording setup? What soundcard are you using? Are you using ASIO drivers? If you are using ASIO, have you tried increasing the hardware buffer size?

 

How many tracks does your project have? Does this problem occur if you only have a one or two track project playing? Do you have any effects applied to any of the tracks?

 

I guess I'm looking for any heavy processing requirements your project might have.

I just downloaded this system and have the same problem. It's an old laptop so mnaybe that's the problem. It's only vocals but I used a lot if tracks. I will try using less tracks. Let me know what you do
