I have opened a Wave music file in the window and noticed that a lot of red vertical lines have been displayed in the lower half of the window. Is this a fault in the source music file or does it indicate something else? The music file plays and sounds OK. The file has been checked with achkgui and is a proper Wave file. nchBen Posted October 5, 2015 Share Posted October 5, 2015 Hi macerg, Those red lines indicate that your wave file has clipped at those points. In other words the recording has exceeded the 0dB reference level and the samples shown as a red line have been limited to the maximum value possible. Depending on how severe the clipping is, you may not be able to notice the effect at all. If the recording was only slightly too loud then the clipping will have only a minor effect.
