Nationalsolo
Hi There are no Instagram filters by default in VP but you can easily create your own or something similar and then save them in each effects Preset list. As a simple example... Select your clip on the sequence line and then click the FX on the thumbnail. (Or add effects from the toolbar) Click Add effect..drop down menu arrow and select an effect .e.g. Vignette Adjust the settings to your requirements. e.g. a Green vignette Click Save In the Save dialogue box give your preset a name e.g. GV This preset will now appear in the list of presets for Vignette and can be used on any future clips simply be selecting VG from the list of presets in the Vignette effects window. In this way you can create any number of presets for each of the effects. With a bit of experimentation you can easily create any number of Instagram and Lomo type effects. Nat Nat, ok, I got your idea, but let say, how would you make this color correction effect in VIdeopad in one click?? you may download video from mydropbox here https://www.dropbox.com/s/evqjv2h69zavwrw/VID_20150326_175943.3gp?dl=
Nationalsolo
Hi You wouldn't be able to do it with one click as with VP you would need to add at least a couple of effects. I got fairly close by using.. Saturation.... -40.2 Hue.............342 .29 Temperature..-16.28 also Hue.....330.48 Saturation -18.92 Brightness/Contrast/Gamma -8 / 3 / 0.98 However once you set up these presets a whole clip could be converted with just the three filters which would take no more than a few seconds to apply. but there isn't a simple one click action. Why not suggest it to NCH. Nat
daorus
Why not suggest it to NCH. Nat Well, NCH representatives read all the discussions on this forum and therefore they are already notified... - - - - - - - I applied 2 your presets and they are quite close to youtube, but I feel, that on youtube version of preset there is some magic, which I can not explain because I'm not a professional in coloring of videos... but with all my body I feel that "documentary film" preset from youtube makes videos look like movies, but 2 your presets look cool, but it still looks like just amature video... Here is my video I gave you download link in second post above, this video has applyed "Documentary film" preset from YouTube + stabilization. you can compare that it has some more magic look comaring to your two presets... https://www.dropbox.com/s/fa4gdb3cd5ho5k4/VID_20150326_175943%2B1.avi?dl=0 I'm not specialist in coloring, but maybe youtube coloring filters have more cool look, because they apply diffrent setting to highlights, midlights and shadows spector or may be because they apply their settings in not in RGB, but in LAB color space... I do not know... I'm not specialits... I just download videos to YouTube, stabilize, apply settings and download back to my computer... it;s ok, but the problem is that YouTube converts my videos to MP4 and that looses quality and I feel that the same operation can be easily done on VideoPad, but without loosing quality and without need to download on server, wait and dowload back... c_major
Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, it would be a good idea to save effect chains as presets. For your video: After applied the effects Nat suggested, try apply a "Vignette" effect?
daorus
Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, it would be a good idea to save effect chains as presets. I would like to point out very important diffrence between saving chains as presets and coloring presets. Yes, from coders point of view, all coloring presets are just combination of effects chain, but end-users like me, for example, do not know at all what combination of effects and with what settings should I apply to get movie look style the diffrence is in motivation 1) saving chains as presets - it is motivation to save time. this is for people who know to make movie look style with combination of effects 2) but coloring presets built by your specialits - it is motivation to get result without knowlege in using effects like hue, saturation, brightness, contrast, gamma, color balance and so on. this is for people like me, who want to get movie look style by choosing option - apply movie look filter for example, there are instagram photo fillters I do tell you the truth, that I just do not know to make all these effects by combination of simple effects like hue, saturation, brightness, contrast, gamma, color balance and so on but I can use these "presets" which was made by professionals who work in instagram, and they created 15 "presets" (filters, effects - you may call it as you want) and I just chose one of 15 filters and I love it yes, professionals can get more great look with settings of each parameter, but press button and get instant movie look effect is that simple users dream of so, the idea is that "move look effect" is not a preset of effect chain, it is a part of a chain for example, I want to apply "movie look effect" and after that i want to increase saturation, and decrease contrast, that it a chain of 3 effects PS. by the way, for all the time of using VideoPad I always was dreaming about standard layers effects - you know burn, dodge, multiply, overlay and so on for example, I add effect in chain, choose multiply mode and set opacity to 50% and computer creates virtual second layer with the same video and adds it over itself with 50% opacity on multiply algorithm
c_major
Hi Daorus, Thanks for the explanation. I see your point. VideoPad is designed as an flexible editing tool and has very wide range of users. Although professional presets are good things to have, we still need custom presets. Effects are broken down to basic level to allow customization. I'll file another suggestion for layer effects. Best regards.
Nationalsolo
Hi Three preset filters gets fairly close but with the example image supplied by daorus it is possible to get an almost exact match of the "documentary" image he wants using a single filter..i.e...Saturation set at about -30. At the end of the day ..What exactly is a "documentary image" compared to the full colour image? Is it just desaturated to a suitable degree?...Or a Desaturated sepia image? Both would produce a result that would pass as a "documentary" style clip. Nat

Here is comparision of your simple saturation and youtube documentary after youtube video looks like movie and after saturation decrease it is still like home video At the end of the day ..What exactly is a "documentary image" compared to the full colour image? Is it just desaturated to a suitable degree?...Or a Desaturated sepia image? Both would produce a result that would pass as a "documentary" style clip. well, it is not just desaturated... there are more complex trasformations with sharp, contrast and the most important - it is diffrent settings for highlighs spector, midlights and shadows google "teal and orange" keyword and you'll get what I mean - - - - - - By the way, there is new software by Adobe called SpeedGrade it's a software specially for coloring videos and it has a killing feature - you can download at google any screenshot from any movie you love and tell this SpeedGrade to color your movie just in the same style and SpeedGrage does it!!!! the "problem" is super-puper system requremets...((( https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/system-requirements-speedgrade.html and why I love VideoPad - it is very fast and runs at Windows XP Core2Duo
